    摘要: A method and apparatus for optimizing a data structure of an external data storage facility shared by a plurality of data processing systems, the data structure being allocated by a first allocation command which includes first allocation parameters based on an amount of storage space in the external data storage facility assigned for creation of the data structure and a composition of the data structure, includes a device for determining values of the first allocation parameters, to thereby determine a first composition of the data structure, a device for determining an actual usage of the data structure, to thereby determine a second composition of the data structure, a device for comparing the first composition of the data structure with the second composition of the data structure, and a device for issuing, based on an output from the comparing device, a second allocation command having second allocation parameters, to the data structure for reallocation thereof. The issuing device includes a device for adjusting the first composition of the data structure to the second composition, as storage space in the external data storage facility and processing cycles become available to execute the second allocation parameters. Until the second allocation parameters are achieved, the reallocation of the data structure remains pending and all processing commands are accepted and processed by the external data storage facility.

    摘要: Lock structures of a shared storage processor of a computing environment are copied. A copy operation for a lock structure of the shared storage processor is initiated. Although the lock structure is owned by an exploiter of the lock structure, one or more objects of the lock structure are copied via an operating system of the computing environment. The one or more objects are copied from the lock structure to another lock structure of the computing environment. Both lock structures may be located within the same shared storage processor or within different shared storage processors.

    摘要: A system, method and computer program product for calibrating a Time Of Day (TOD)-clock in a computing system node provided in a multi-node network. The network comprises an infrastructure of computing devices each having a physical clock providing a time base for executing operations that is stepped to a common oscillator. The system implements steps for obtaining samples of timing values of a computing device in the network, the values including a physical clock value maintained at that device and a TOD-offset value; computing an oscillator skew value from the samples; setting a fine steering rate value as equal to the opposite of the computed oscillator skew value; and, utilizing the fine steering rate value to adjust the physical clock value and correct for potential oscillator skew errors occurring in the oscillator crystal at the computing device.
