A rear vision communication system is provided to effect communication between the rearview assemblies. The rear vision communication system also includes a communication link with the vehicle multiplex communication network. The vehicle rear vision system may include an interactive dynamic position control, which repositions each mirror in the system in response to a change in the position of one mirror in a manner which allows the mirror aim to track a driver's eye position.

    摘要: A vehicle global positioning system includes a mirror assembly having a reflective element and a housing for the reflective element that is made from a material that is electrically substantially non-conducting. The system further includes a global positioning system (GPS) receiver and control module and at least one receiving antenna. The vehicle GPS is adapted to receive earth satellite signals with the receiving antenna and to convert the signals to location, velocity and/or time parameters. The GPS receiving antenna is positioned within the housing of the mirror assembly. In a preferred embodiment, the GPS receiving antenna is positioned within the housing of a vehicle exterior mirror. The vehicle GPS may include a plurality of GPS receiving antennas, such as one located in the vehicle's driver side exterior mirror and the other located in the vehicle's passenger side exterior mirror.

The rearview mirror assembly includes a reflective element, at least one electrical component mounted to the reflective element, and a case housing the reflective element and the electrical component. An electronic control module including at least one antenna is supported by the case which communicates with the electrical component. Preferably, the electronic control module is supported by a housing that is either molded with the case or welded to the inner surface of the case to support the electronic control module independently from the electrical component.

    摘要: A mirror system for a vehicle includes at least one exterior mirror having a reflective element, a housing for the reflective element, a positioning device for selectively positioning the reflective element, and a light for emitting light generally downwardly from the mirror housing on an area adjacent the side of the vehicle. A control is responsive to the vehicle reverse gear selector being in reverse gear for causing the positioning device to position the reflective element to a downwardly tilted position, wherein the driver can view an area adjacent a side of the vehicle. The control actuates the light when the reflective element is in the downwardly tilted position in order to illuminate objects in that area. In a preferred embodiment, the control actuates the light through a lockout circuit which normally allows the light to be activated only when the vehicle is not operating. The control includes an override for the lockout circuit which allows the light to be activated even when the vehicle is operating when, and only when, reverse gear is selected.
