摘要:
A paper product and a method of making a paper product with a glabrous surface and adapted for use either dry or use in a manually pre-moistened condition. The paper product has temporary wet strength exhibiting an initial normalized CD wet tensile strength of at least about 25 g/1" strip, preferably 35 g/1" strip as measured by the Finch Cup Test 5 seconds after immersion and a subsequent CD wet tensile strength of less than about 2/3 the initial value as measured 30 minutes after immersion. A temporary wet strength agent comprising aldehydic units in the range of from about 2 pounds per ton to about 30 pounds per ton is added to the furnish. A cationic nitrogenous softener/debonder is preferably added to the furnish, in an amount of from about 1 pound per ton to about 6 pounds per ton. The CD dry tensile strength of the paper product is from at least about 133 g/1" up to about 267 g/1", and the tensile modulus is from about 10 to about 32 g/% strain while the GM MMD friction is from about 0.26 to about 0.10. Preferably, the wet strength of the product decays with sufficient speed that the CD wet tensile strength drops to about 15 g/1" strip within 10 hours after immersion. When rubbed against a skin-like surface in a moistened condition, the paper product remains substantially free of pilling.

A paper product and a method of making a paper product with a glabrous surface and adapted for use either dry or for use in a manually pre-moistened condition. The paper product having temporary wet strength exhibiting an initial normalized CD wet tensile strength of at least about 75 g/3 inch strip, preferably 105 g/3 inch strip as measured by the Finch Cup Test 5 seconds after immersion and a subsequent CD wet strength of less than 1/2 as measured 10 minutes after immersion. A temporary wet strength agent comprising uncharged chemical moieties such as aldehydes, and aldehydes containing polymers, polyols and cyclic ureas or mixtures thereof in the range of from about 2 pounds per ton to about 30 pounds per ton is added to the web. Optionally starch and a cationic nitrogenous softener/debonder is added. The starch and softener/debonder are added to assist in tailor making the desired paper product having temporary wet strength. The dry CD tensile strength of the paper product is from at least about 399 g/3 inches up to about 801 g/3 inches, and the tensile modulus is from about 10 to about 32 g/% strain while the GM MMD friction is from about 0.26 to about 0.10. When rubbed against a skin-like surface in a moistened condition, the paper product remains substantially free of pilling.

A method of foam forming of paper includes the steps of metering a controlled feed of fiber dispersed in an aqueous liquid into a dewatering device, wherein the consistency of the fiber dispersed in the aqueous liquid input to the dewatering device is between about 0.5 and about 7% by weight. A uniform continuous strand of semi-moist pulp is obtained wherein the consistency of the semi-moist pulp leaving the dewatering device is between about 8 and 30% by weight. A stream of a foamed aqueous admixture is obtained and introduced into a dispersing mixer having shearing action extending substantially throughout a zone substantially athwart the flow path of the uniform continuous strand and the foamed aqueous stream and forming a stream of dispersed fiber bearing aqueous foam. The dispersed fiber bearing aqueous stream is conducted to the inlet of a positive displacement pump. Thereafter the dispersed fiber bearing stream is conducted through a headbox and the fibers dispersed in the stream are deposited on a moving foraminous support.

Apparatus and process for producing foam formed fibrous web in which the furnish is made up by mixing a thin water slurry of fibers at a consistency in the range of from about 0.5 to about 7 weight percent fibers with sufficient aqueous foam containing a surfactant and having an air content in the range of from about 55 to about 80 percent by volume to form a foamed fiber furnish containing from about 0.1 to about 3 weight percent fibers which is supplied directly to the forming felt or wire of a twin wire papermaking machine, adding makeup surfactant and discarding excess aqueous foam from the process as required to maintain the desired volume of foamed liquid therein.

A single or multi-ply tissue product includes at least one foam-formed ply incorporating at least about 100 ppm of forming-loop-incorporated surfactant, the ply includes from at least about 50% by weight to about 80% by weight of relatively short, high softness cellulosic fiber formed by chemical pulping of hardwood. The fibers have a weight average fiber length of between about 0.5 to about 2.2 mm, a coarseness of about 7 to about 14 mg of fiber per 100 m of fiber length (mg/100 m). The ply includes from at least about 20% by weight to about 50% by weight of relatively long strength-enhancing cellulosic fiber chosen from chemically pulped softwood fiber and chemi-thermo-mechanically pulped softwood fiber and mixtures thereof. The strength-enhancing cellulosic fiber have a weight average fiber length of about 2 to about 4 mm, a coarseness of about 14 to about 28 mg/100 m. Optionally, up to about 30% by weight of bulk-enhancing fibers having a three-dimensional anfractuous character may be provided. The ply is embossed to an emboss depth of at least about 0.020 inch, the percent loss in total dry breaking tensile strength upon embossing of the tissue being no more than about 80% of the percent loss in total dry breaking tensile strength upon embossing plies of a comparable conventional water formed tissue. The ply includes a basis weight of from about 4 to about 20 pound per 3,000 sq. ft. ream.

A soft and resilient, cold-water dispersible polyurethane foam suitable for disposable personal care products is produced by the combination of corn syrup, glycerin, polyether diamine, PEG, a diisocyanate, water and a catalyst. The formulation and reaction conditions for forming the inventive foam are judiciously selected and carefully controlled to achieve water dispersibility and the desired mechanical properties. The characteristic resiliency, or percent rebound for the foams was generally over 75% and the foams are readily produced as soft foams, exhibiting a relative compression value of from 20% to 150% of that of a commercial polyurethane foam cosmetic pad which is not water dispersible. The foam may be incorporated into webs or stackable products or nestable three-dimensional products.
