    摘要: Multiple channels of received data are processed by a multiple channel demodulation and error correction decoding engine. The statistical uncertainty of processing channels with an iterative decoder are averaged across all the channels to reduce the total processing power required of the decoding engine compared to processing each channel with a separate engine. A set of input buffers holds blocks of data for each channel needing decoding. A quality measure is computed on each input block to set the priority and iteration allocation of decoding in the common decoder. The input RF signal is digitized by a broadband tuner that processes some or all of the channels to feed the multiple channel demodulator and decoder. Multiple decoded video data streams are output.

    摘要: A finite field parallel multiplier in GF(q.sup.m) including a router for directing 2m-1 components in m groups of m single-component signal lines towards m computing circuits for performing multiply and add modulo-q. The router guides m components from a first finite field element along with an additional m-1 components generated from linear combinations of the m components of the first finite field element. Each of the computing circuits receives all of the components from the second finite field element and m components provided by one set of signal lines through the router. Each computing circuit generates a single component for the resultant finite field element. These resulting components may be input through a basis change circuit to obtain a result in the desired basis.

    摘要: A broadband digital communication network transmits a signal with a shaped power spectrum to minimize interference with devices that share the communication medium. In one embodiment using coaxial wiring, devices such as cable converters and televisions that are not part of the network share the communication medium and are exposed to the network signal. Power levels across the network band are selected to reduce interference in the non-networked devices. One area of susceptibility is the tuner of cable channel receivers, which perform mixing and down conversion of RF signals. The power spectrum profile is selected to minimize the IF and base band interference after down conversion. The spectrum can be shaped within each 6 MHz band to further minimize the interference with a TV signal. The power levels can be optimized for both peak power limitation and quantization effects.
