A fourth conduit may also be included which would be mounted in thermal contact with the third conduit, the fourth conduit including a lower end and an upper end and being adapted to receive ambient air in its lower end and warm the air prior to discharging it out of the upper end.

摘要： A fireplace heater includes a metal firebox with a small chimney and front access and draft openings, the former being closed by glass doors. A sheet metal jacket with an open front surrounds the walls of the firebox to provide air conducting spaces between the firebox and jacket. Air baffles extend between the opposite sidewalls of the firebox and jacket to subdivide the air space into interconnected cold air intake passages below the baffle and a warm air discharge passage above the baffle. The interior of the firebox includes a series of baffles designed to retain heat within the firebox and promote the transfer of heat through the firebox walls into the air passages. Air diverters are also provided along the periphery of the firebox access opening for diverting draft air across the inside of the glass access doors to keep smoke from clouding the glass. A decorative grille front covers the jacket air intake and discharge openings and extends beyond the jacket to also cover the fireplace opening. Room air passes through the grillework into the jacket but is blocked from entering the fireplace opening beyond the jacket.

摘要： The present invention provides a stove having the following features: a firebox for initiating the combustion of fuel, the firebox including a lower portion with a draft inlet therein; a first conduit disposed under the firebox for conveying combustion air to a draft inlet and for insulating the underside of the firebox; a secondary combustion chamber for receiving hot gases of combustion from the firebox and continuing the combustion; a second conduit which receives air from the first conduit adjacent the draft inlet and which conveys all the air which has not passed through the draft inlet along the periphery of the firebox and into the secondary combustion chamber, thereby increasing the flow of air through the secondary combustion chamber during periods of low combustion and for continuing the insulation of the firebox; and a third conduit for conveying the gases of combustion from the secondary combustion chamber to a flue.

摘要： A fireplace furnace is insertable as a unit into the front opening of an existing fireplace. It has a firebox portion and can also have a cookstove extension of the firebox which protrudes into the room when the firebox is positioned in a fireplace. A sheet metal jacket around the firebox encloses a first air space. Double side walls of the firebox define a second air space. Frontal air openings connect both air spaces to the ambient room air. Rear openings in the outermost side walls interconnect the two air spaces at the rear of the firebox. Heat exchange tubes communicating with the first air space at the back of the firebox pass through the firebox to air discharge openings at the front of the unit. Air intake blowers in the first air space are insulated from the firebox by the second air space. Baffles in the first air space direct the incoming air flow rearwardly along the outer side walls, deflect a portion of such flow into the second air space, and divide another portion of such flow approximately equally among the heat exchange tubes. The unit has a front access opening and door with adjustable draft control mechanism.

摘要： A combination fireplace furnace and cookstove is adapted for insertion as a unit into the front opening of an existing fireplace. Such apparatus includes a firebox portion adapted for positioning within a fireplace and a cookstove portion provided with a cooktop, designed to protrude into the room when the apparatus is installed in a fireplace. A sheet metal jacket around the firebox portion encloses an airspace communicating with air intakes at the front of the unit. Heat exchange tubes communicating with the airspace at the back of the firebox pass through the firebox and cookstove portions to discharge openings at the front of the unit so that air warmed in the airspace is further heated in such tubes before discharge into the room. A baffle within the firebox directs products of combustion forwardly into the cookstove portion to heat the cooktop and upper heat exchange tubes before passing up the chimney. The baffle includes a damper movable between an open position to allow combustion products to rise directly up the chimney and a closed position to heat the cooktop. The cookstove portion has a front opening closed by one of a group of interchangeable doors.

摘要： A low emission stove includes a firebox divided by an inverted baffle into a large lower primary combustion chamber, in which the solid fuel is placed, and a substantially smaller upper secondary combustion chamber. A restrictive vertical passage formed between a sidewall of the firebox and a downturned free end portion of the baffle connects the two chambers to convey combustion products produced in the lower chamber to the upper chamber before exiting from the stove. The air for the primary combustion in the lower chamber is drawn from beneath the firebox and directed upward to the firebox. The air enters the primary chamber through air inlets on multiple sides of the primary chamber, both at the fuel level and substantially above the fuel level. The combustion products produced are temporarily trapped within the primary chamber by the downturned free end portion of the baffles. A secondary air inlet near the vertical passage supplies air for secondary combustion of the combustion products within the secondary chamber, which is heated by the inverted baffle. A plurality of deflective baffles within the secondary chamber delays the passage of air and combustion products therethrough so that they may thoroughly burn before discharge from the stove.

摘要： A wood-burning furnace unit for insertion in an existing fireplace includes a metal firebox surrounded at its opposite sides, top and back in spaced relationship by a metal jacket to define an airspace between the jacket and firebox wall and air inlet openings into said airspace at the opposite sides of said firebox. The firebox has a front opening closed by glass doors and adjustable draft openings below such doors. Air blowers within the jacket at opposite sides of the firebox draw room air into the jacket and blow it rearwardly into heat exchange tubes which pass through the firebox from the back of the jacket airspace and discharge heated air back into the room from the front of the firebox. Baffling within the jacket distributes the room air to the various tubes. In one embodiment, there are both upper heat exchange tubes passing through an upper portion of the firebox and lower heat exchange tubes passing through a lower portion of the firebox. In a second embodiment, only the upper tubes are used.
