    Abstract: A convection outdoor or indoor gas heater is provided, the heater comprising: a top; a first wall; a combustion chamber which includes a vent cap with a plurality of vents, the vent cap proximate to the top, the combustion chamber housed within the first wall, spaced apart from the first wall to define a first interstitial passageway, the first interstitial passageway in fluid communication with the plurality of vents; a gas burner assembly which is housed in the combustion chamber; a second wall spaced apart from the first wall to define a second interstitial passageway, the second interstitial passageway in fluid communication with the first interstitial passageway; a base which supports the first wall, the second wall and the combustion chamber; a combustion air inlet in fluid communication with the combustion chamber; an ambient air inlet in fluid communication with the second interstitial passageway; and an outlet in fluid communication with the first interstitial passageway.

    Abstract: Combustion apparatus for use with a solid fuel has a firebox constructed at least in part of a fired refractory carbide material. The fired refractory carbide material has a catalytic effect on the combustion process providing a cleaner and more efficient combustion.     Abstract: A combustion apparatus for the burning of solid fuel using a plurality of secondary combustion zones is disclosed. The combustion apparatus includes primary and secondary air inlets, an inclined hearth and a unique second air source which washes up a window in the combustion apparatus creating a floating flame effect and rendering the window self-cleaning. A series of baffles define a secondary combustion pathway which optimizes secondary combustion of exhaust gasses and particulate matter. Coaxial rear and top direct venting apparatus are also disclosed. The combustion apparatus provided combusts a wide range of solid fuel at a high level of efficiency.

    Abstract: The invention relates to a device which can be used alternatively to heat and air-condition a space, such as a residential, working, or storage premises or room or any other enclosed area. The inventive device consists of a heating unit (1) comprising a closed firebox (2) with an air circuit which is used to release the calories produced by said closed firebox (2) and an optionally reversible air-conditioning unit, comprising at least two exchangers at least one of which, called inner exchanger, is placed in an inner air circuit that communicates with the exterior by means of the aforementioned calorie-releasing air circuit on the closed firebox to diffuse the air from inside the device externally.     Abstract: An adjustable primary air supply for wood burning device comprises at least one but preferably two thermostatic bimetal elements which, by bending with temperature variations, directly actuate a flap that opens and closes the air entry opening. Primary Air is the air used to control the burn rate and it is adjusted in order to achieve the desired burn rates and Secondary Air is the air used to complete the combustion and is not adjustable. Using these two sources of air, the invention consists of a device, which allows the primary air supply to remain open until proper burning is established. Therefore, when the temperature of the appliance rises, the combustion air gradually decreases to its preset value by having the primary air supply automatically shut off as temperature increases. A higher temperature indicates that the wood is sufficiently hot to decompose into flammable gases, so only secondary air is required to continue the combustion process.

A method for reducing products of incomplete combustion in fireplace emissions is presented including receiving fireplace emissions into a shell, heating said fireplace emissions to at least 1501° F. (816° C.), reacting said fireplace emissions with a catalyst substrate, and releasing the results of said reaction from said shell.
