摘要： A machine (10) for receiving and operating a terminal applicator (12) in the attaching of an electrical terminal (14) to a conductor includes a magnetic power unit (28) having a fixed electromagnet (30) attached to the frame (20) and a movable electromagnet (32) coupled to the terminal applicator (12). The machine includes a cycling mechanism (86) for manually moving the movable electromagnet (32) through the power and return strokes of the terminal applicator (12). The cycling mechanism (86) includes a lead screw (88) having a nut (102) in threaded engagement therewith that moves vertically when the lead screw is rotated. A latch (110) attached to the nut (102) pivots into an opening (112) in the periphery (114) of the movable electromagnet (32) when the lead screw is rotated in one direction (130). As the lead screw (88) is rotated further the latch (110) carries the movable electromagnet (32) downwardly through its power stroke. When the lead screw (88) is rotated in the opposite direction the latch (110) carries the movable electromagnet (32) upwardly through its return stroke. When the movable electromagnet (32) nears its upper most position during the return stroke the latch (110) pivots, out of the opening (112) and disengages the movable electromagnet (32).

The locking lances have scalloped edges to ensure that the lances only partially penetrate the housing, but also provide a secure connection to provide an increased retention of the terminal in the housing. 摘要： A zero insertion force socket is provided having a cover and housing sidably mounted to one another. The housing includes a pocket receiving a cam assembly. The cam assembly is slidably moveable within the housing in a direction perpendicular to the direction of movement between the cover and housing. The lever is rotatably mounted within the housing and engages the cam assembly to transfer rotational movement of the lever into axial movement of the cam assembly in a transverse direction. The cam assembly communicates with the cover such that the cam assembly drives the cover in a longitudinal direction as the cam assembly moves in a transverse direction. The lever and cam assembly cooperate to spread actuation forces across the cover and housing.

摘要： A machine (144) for crimping terminals onto conductors, is disclosed which automatically compensate for different conductor density and terminal sizes for maintaining a desired crimp height for each different combination of sizes. The machine (144) includes a compensating unit (146) that is interposed within the drive mechanism to automatically alter an otherwise fixed distance (162) in the drive mechanism. The compensating unit (146), when combined with the ram, includes a pair of opposed resilient beams (158, 160) that deflect when sufficient axial loading is applied to the ram during the crimping operation. This deflection results in the altering of the fixed distance (162) and, therefore, the altering of the shut height (164) of the machine (144).

摘要： A connector assembly is provided comprising a conductive upper shell having a top, sides, a front face and a back wall. A conductive lower shell is provided having sides, a bottom, a front face and a rear wall. The sides of the lower shell include recesses formed in edges thereof. Flanges are provided on the sides of the upper shell. The flanges have tabs extending downward therefrom. The tabs are received in the recesses in the edges of the sides of the lower shell when the upper and lower shells are joined. The recesses hold the flanges against the sides of the upper shell. A connector assembly is provided comprising an upper shell having a top, sides, a front face and a back wall. A lower shell has sides, a bottom, a front face and a back wall, wherein the front face of one of the upper and lower shells includes a pin and the front face of another of the upper and lower shells includes a cross member. The pin is held by the cross member to retain the front faces of the upper and lower shells joined with one another. The shells enclose a printed circuit board with an exposed end for connection to a mating connector.
