Abstract: A software upgrade control method and a broadcast receiving apparatus using the same. The software upgrade control method includes externally transmitting information relating to a card installed to the broadcast receiving apparatus and used for broadcast processing; and controlling upgrade of software of the card based on the received software upgrade which corresponds to the information relating to the installed card. Accordingly, even when the type of the card installed to the broadcast receiving apparatus varies, the correct software of the card can be upgraded.
