摘要: A web handling apparatus is adapted to move web material in forward and reverse directions and under varying degrees of web tension. In such apparatus, a web friction drive is actuatable to assume an operative mode for feeding web material, therefrom, in the forward direction toward a web drawing mechanism and at a rate in excess of that at which the drawing mechanism can draw the same material forward. The web friction drive normally assumes an idle mode in which the friction drive does not exert a web feeding affect on web material moving in the forward or reverse directions. A web tension sensing mechanism connects with the web friction drive, for actuating the friction drive to assume the operative mode in response to sensing a given tension in web material which is moving in the forward direction from the friction drive to the web drawing mechanism, and allows the friction drive to assume the idle mode after tension in the same material has eased or slackened. However, the web tension sensing mechanism and web friction drive remain disconnected as web material is moved in the reverse direction. In this way, the web tension sensing mechanism cannot actuate the web friction drive to assume the idle mode during movement of web material in the reverse direction.

摘要: An electronic film video player for converting pictorial information in image frames on motion picture film into video signals for reproduction of the pictorial information as a video display. Film transport apparatus is operable in a play mode for continuously moving the motion picture film past a scanning gate in a forward direction. The image frames are scanned by a beam of light produced by a flying spot scanner of electrical to-optical signal transducer apparatus in a raster having a horizontal-tovertical aspect ratio related to the aspect ratio of the image frames, and the continuous rate of movement of the motion picture film past the scanning gate. Optical-to-electrical signal transducer apparatus responds to the moving spot of light modulated in intensity by the pictorial information content of the scanned image frames for producing video signals representative thereof. The film transport apparatus is alternately operable in a rewind mode for continuously moving the motion picture film in a reverse direction to rewind the motion picture film. The film transport apparatus is also operable in a still mode for scanning a stationary image frame located in a predetermined position in the scanning gate. The stationary image frame is located in the predetermined position from either the play or rewind modes of operation of the film transport apparatus through the operation of a control circuit which halts forward or reverse film motion upon a still mode command signal, advances the motion picture film in the forward direction after a time delay sufficient to ensure that film motion has ceased, detects the entry of the image frame to be viewed into the predetermined position in the scanning gate, and halts forward film motion. The scanning beam is suppressed in response to the still command signal until the stationary image frame is located in the predetermined position for still frame scanning. The aspect ratio of the raster produced by the flying spot scanner is made to conform to the aspect ratio of the stationary image frame.

摘要: Motion picture projector apparatus includes a hook-like member that is adapted to be moved into close proximity to a rotating roll of film or the like for engaging the film through an opening in a leading end portion of the film. The self threading apparatus comprises a pair of puck drive members which receive the film from the hook and drive it through a film guide toward a film gate at a rate that exceeds the rate film is advanced through the gate. The puck drive members are disengaged in response to the accumulation of film in the film guide. During rewind of film through the gate the puck drive members are disengaged to permit film to pass therebetween. The projector apparatus disclosed provides for review or manual rewind of film.

摘要: A magnetic tape recorder for use in conjunction with a motion picture camera is provided with a compact portable housing having a door which may be opened to permit insertion of, or removal of, a tape cassette or cartridge. A cam mechanism operates in conjunction with the door whereby, when the door is opened, the record heads and a pressure roller which cooperates with the tape driving capstan are automatically withdrawn from their normal positions for easy removal or insertion of the cassette. The recorder is provided with an interlock system to prevent operation of an associated cine camera unless a cassette is received in the recorder and the door has been closed.
