摘要： A reel position-detecting device for use in a magnetic tape drive unit, designed to determine whether or not a supply reel has been positioned upside down in a retainer. When reel-detecting means detects that the supply reel has been set in the retainer, the retainer is rotated in the opposite direction to the tape-supply direction. If tape supply-detecting means detects the magnetic tape and then ceases to detect the tape within a predetermined period, processing means determines that the supply reel has been correctly positioned. Otherwise, the processing means determines that the supply reel has been positioned upside down.

摘要： A switch assembly is provided for a tape drive adapted to receive a tape cartridge. The assembly comprises a housing, first and second switches fixedly mounted on the housing, and first and second plungers mounted for reciprocal movement on the housing to actuate the first and second switches, respectively. The housing includes three orthogonal reference surfaces, all of which engage the tape drive to locate the assembly in proper relationship to the tape drive. The plungers are responsive to the tape cartridge to actuate the first switch when the tape cartridge is properly mounted on the drive and to actuate the second switch when the tape cartridge is not write-protected. The assembly may include a light source and a light-responsive switch which, together with a reflector in the tape cartridge, cooperate to detect position-indicating tape apertures.

摘要： An apparatus for running magnetic tapes has three projecting pins each of which has a cylindrical portion and a free end portion. The three projecting pins hold at the cylindrical portions thereof a tape cassette containing a roll of magnetic tape selectively in a first position and second position which is closer to the free end portion than the first position. On the cylindrical portion of one of three projecting pins a first flange is provided for selectively preventing the tape cassette from moving from the first position to the second position. On the cylindrical portion of each of three projecting pins a second flange is provided for selectively preventing the tape cassette from being released from the three projecting pins. The apparatus also comprises a displacement member moved by the cassette when the cassette is moved between the first and the second position and a power switch connected to a motor for running the tape. The power switch sets the motor to the tape-running mode when the cassette moves from the second to the first position and to the tape-stop mode when the cassette moves from the first to the second position.
