摘要： New Beta -alkoxyvinyl, Beta -aryloxyvinyl and Beta acyloxyvinyl substituted carbocyanine dye intermediates and processes for preparing them are provided. Also provided are new 8-amino and 8-amido substituted carbocyanine dyes and processes for preparing these dyes. New processes are provided for preparing 8-thio and 8-formyl substituted carbocyanine dyes. Novel photographic elements contain light-sensitive silver halide spectrally sensitized with the 8-amino and 8-amido carbocyanine dyes.
