    摘要: A near-infrared-ray absorbing material containing a cyanine compound per formula (I) exhibits a sharp light absorption in wavelength range 800-1000 nm, with excellent light resistance. R1 - R4, Y1, Y2 represents hydrogen atom, a group of formula (II) or (II′), etc., and Anq− represents a q-valent anion, provided that at least R1 is a group of formula (II) or (II′) or Anq− is an ion of formula (III); R11 - R13 each represents a hydrogen atom, hydroxyl group, etc.; Z1, Z2 represents a C1-10 alkyl group, etc. In formula (II′), the bond between G′ and T′ is a double bond or a conjugated double bond; G′ represents a carbon atom; T′ represents a carbon atom or a nitrogen atom; the ring including G′ and T′ represents a 6-membered ring, etc.; w′ is 0-4; and R01′ represents a hydrogen atom, hydroxy, etc. In formula (III), R5 and R6 represents a halogen-substituted C1-8 alkyl group.

    摘要: Infrared absorbing compounds that absorb at 800 nmnull50 nm and at 1050 nmnull50 nm, the two different regions of the infrared spectrum typically used for imaging, are disclosed. Thermally imageable elements that comprise these infrared absorbing compounds can be imaged with radiation in either of these two regions of the infrared spectrum. The elements are especially useful as lithographic printing plate precursors.

    摘要: A method for providing intelligible markings that are virtually invisible to the unaided eye on the surface of an article, comprises: applying onto the surface, by a jet printing process, a marking medium comprising a compatible liquid or viscous substance containing an organic laser dye (typically IR-125 in a concentration of about 0.005 to 0.05 percent by weight of the medium) that is poorly absorptive of radiation in the visible range of about 400 to 700 nanometers, is highly absorptive of radiation in the near infrared range of at least about 750 nanometers in wavelength (typically about 750 to 900 nanometers), and fluoresces in response to radiation excitation in the said near infrared range to produce fluorescent radiation of wavelengths longer than the wavelength of the excitation (typically in the range of about 800 to 1100 nanometers). Other useful laser dyes may comprise DTTCI, DNTTCI, HDITCI, DDTTCI, IR-140, DDCI-4, or IR-132.
