Abstract: A blue-cut wafer can be coupled to a lens, such that the blue-cut wafer can be configured to reduce by absorption at least a portion of light having a first wavelength range from 400 nanometers to 500 nanometers, preferably from 400 nanometers to 460 nanometers. The blue-cut wafer can permit light having a second wavelength range, the second wavelength range being greater than the first wavelength range, and homogenize a color appearance and a blue-cut performance level of the blue-cut wafer based on the blue-cut wafer having a maximum thickness and a minimum thickness within twenty percent of a nominal thickness of the blue-cut wafer.

Abstract: A polyurethane based adhesive containing one polyol compound derived from caprolactone monomer having a number average molecular weight between 200 and 1000 combined with a polyisocyanate compound. The functionality of the polycaprolactone polyol is between 1 and 4. Other aspects include a polarizing layered structure, a polarized lens and a method for manufacturing same all of which include the polyurethane based adhesive. The adhesive avoids delamination and is useful in optical applications where it will be in contact with water, for example during surfacing or edging process.

Abstract: Disclosed are systems and processes for generating a finished or semi-finished lens, such as a spectacle lens, from a lens blank that includes an intermediate functional layer. Some embodiments of the process involve locating the functional layer and positioning the lens blank according to the location of the functional layer. The location of the functional layer can be ascertained by measuring the thickness of one or more layers of the lens blank. The lens blank can be surfaced on one or both sides to form a finished or semi-finished lens. Other embodiments are also described.

Abstract: A transparent optical element with dual light-polarizing effect comprises a first film forming a linear light-polarizer in a first surface portion of the element, and a second film forming a retarder plate within a second surface portion.
