摘要： A load handling apparatus particularly suited for incorporation into a vehicle for lifting and transporting heavy loads such as steel slabs, comprising a main frame for straddling a load, pivoting lift frames to provide the lifting capacity of the apparatus, suspended load engaging and clamping members and hydraulic cylinders to actuate the lift frames and the load engaging and clamping members. In the illustrated embodiment, a control system is provided for the cylinders which includes provision for synchronously extending and retracting the lift cylinders and for accommodating any necessary adjustment of the length of the clamping cylinders as the load engaging and clamping members, with a load engaged and suspended therebetween, move transversely relative to the main frame, changing the distance between the points of connection of the cylinder.

摘要： A carrier having a wheeled, open-ended, frame pivotally the frame and cradle can be maneuvered around a pot and under projections on the pot. A pair of primary linear actuators on the frame are coupled through levers and links so as to cause the cradle to lift the pot for transport and thereafter dump the pot by tilting the cradle more than 140.degree. while maintaining good mechanical advantage. Secondary cylinders are positioned to bear traveling loads, eliminating the pressure in the primary cylinders and the forces through the links and pins. The levers and links are designed so as to avoid twisting and binding under heavy loads.

摘要： A load handling apparatus particularly suited for incorporation into a vehicle for lifting and transporting heavy loads such as steel billets, comprising a main frame to straddle a load, pivotally mounted lift frame assembly providing the lifting capability to raise a steel billet and suspend it during transport, suspended load engaging and clamping members, hydraulic cylinders to actuate the clamping and lifting members and an hydraulically actuated drag link for stabilizing the load while transporting over uneven terrain. The drag link is pivotally connected at its one end to the main frame and at its other end to the suspended load engaging and clamping assembly so that these pivot points, in conjunction with the pivot points of the lift frame assembly, substantially define a parallelogram relationship. By varying the length of the drag link, the clamping assembly is maintained in proper orientation relative to the ground. A hydraulic control system is provided for the cylinders associated with the lifting, clamping and load stabilizing members, each hydraulic circuit having independent control means and overload protection means.

In the preferred embodiment the cradle and the hydraulic lift cylinder are pivotally connected to the trailer frame with ball connections to permit limited lateral tilting thereof and the cradle is essentially self-centering with respect to the trailer center line when the pressure in the hydraulic swing actuator is relieved.

摘要： A reach back carrier includes a self-propelled tractor and a wheeled trailer having a generally U-shaped frame with rearwardly projecting side members and a forwardly projecting integral gooseneck pivotally connected to the tractor to permit turning thereof at substantially right angles, a cradle is pivotally mounted adjacent the rear ends of the side members and adapted to engage trunnions on the pot. A rear cross frame is secured between the side members and has rigidly attached rearwardly projecting mounting members thereon with a plurality of trailer wheels journalled on transverse axes adjacent the ends of the side members and mounting members for supporting the trailer, at least one of the wheels on each side of the trailer center line having an axis set forward of the axes of the other wheels, a rear hydraulic actuator secured to at least one of the side members and mounting members behind each of the one wheels, the hydraulic actuator being located substantially within the overall length and width of the trailer defined by the outer perimeter of the wheels and has an outrigger foot for engaging the ground when the pot is lifted and dumped by the cradle, and a primary hydraulic actuator for swinging the cradle about the pivotal mounting for lifting the pot through the trunnions from a position behind the trailer wheels and swinging the pot into a transport position on the trailer ahead of the wheels.

By varying the length of the drag link, the clamping assembly is maintained in proper orientation relative to the ground. A hydraulic control system is provided for the cylinders associated with the lifting, clamping and load stabilizing members, each hydraulic circuit having independent control and overload protection mechanisms. In a preferred embodiment, the lateral clearance between the frame members and the clamping and lifting members is controlled to limit the deflection of the latter.

摘要： A vehicle for reaching, lifting, retracting, stacking and carrying loads. The vehicle includes a load carrying portion disposed behind the front axle of the vehicle for receiving and transporting loads, so that the vehicle is able to transport loads without tipping yet without carrying excess ballast. The vehicle includes a reach and retract lifting device for reaching to secure or release loads substantially far from the vehicle and retracting to secure or release loads stacked on the load carrying portion of the vehicle. The reach and retract lifting device is interchangeable depending on the desired lifting operation. To prevent tipping while reaching loads, the vehicle incorporates selectively actuable outriggers. Additionally, the vehicle includes selectively actuable hydraulic cylinders or the like for adjusting the lateral position of a lifted load.
