    Abstract: Processor devices functioning as tone-generation-related processing elements, such as a keyboard, tone generator and speaker, are connected to a star-type network. Desired processing elements are logically connected (e.g., a keyboard is logically connected to the input side of the tone generator and a speaker is connected to the output side of the tone generator) in an internal network, so that a tone generation system can be built. Each processor device possesses a content file, and each of the processor devices has a table storing, for each of the processor devices, information indicating whether the content file possessed thereby can be supplied. If a particular one of the processor devices does not possess a content file to be used, the particular processor device extracts, from the table, another processor device capable of supplying the content file to be used and receives the content file from the extracted processor device.

    Abstract: Automatic composition apparatus and method are provided which are capable of modifying a rhythm pattern to provide a wide variety of rhythm patterns only through simple setting, and a storage medium that accomplishes this function is provided. Characteristics of a rhythm pattern of a piece of music to be composed are established. Characteristic data that match the established characteristics are retrieved from a rhythm pattern database rhythm pattern database comprising a plurality of rhythm patterns and characteristic data indicating characteristics of each of the rhythm patterns. One of the rhythm patterns is selected, that corresponds to the retrieved characteristic data. Accordingly, different rhythm patterns having the same characteristics can be easily obtained. Further, composition conditions to be applied to a whole piece of music to be composed are established, and the established composition conditions are allocated to each of sectional elements that constitute the piece of music, for example, a passage, a phrase, or a measure, and the composition conditions for the whole piece of music, in other words, distributed among the respective passages, phrases or measures. Therefore, a rhythm pattern having different characteristics may be obtained by changing only the characteristics of the whole piece of music, thus assuring an improved efficiency with which the user operates the apparatus.

    Abstract: In a portable communication terminal apparatus, a transmitter and receiver conducts either of a transmission and receipt of a message. A tone generator generates a sequence of tones to sound a music melody of a song in association with either of the transmission and the receipt of the message. A music composer is provided for inputting a motif melody comprised of a rhythm and a pitch and for composing the music melody of the song based on the inputted motif melody.     Abstract: A performance-information analyzing apparatus, which is employed by an electronic musical instrument, is provided to analyze performance information which represents at least a pitch and a key-on timing with respect to each sound to be produced. A note length is calculated on the basis of a key-on interval representative of a time interval between two key-on timings. One note length, whose frequency of occurrence is relatively high, is selected from among a plurality of note lengths sequentially calculated with respect to a plurality of sounds to be produced. A pair of time and location of bar-line is automatically determined in accordance with a predetermined condition on the basis of the note length selected. The selection for the note length can be made under the consideration of the number of the notes which have the same pitch and which indicate a continuous sound to be described between two measures across the bar-line in the score. Thus, the score is formed by the performance information and the pair of time and location of bar-line and is visually displayed for the user, wherein the continuous sound is described by two or more notes with a tie between two measures across the bar-line.

    Abstract: A duet interval data memory includes tables each of which corresponds to a particular chord type and prestores a plurality of duet interval data. One of the tables is selected in accordance with the type of a chord being played in a lower keyboard. A note interval between a root note of this chord and a melody note being played in an upper keyboard constitutes a relative note. The duet interval data is read from the selected table in response to this relative note. A calculator alters the melody note by a note interval corresponding to the read out duet interval data thereby producing data representative of a duet note. The tone of this duet note is sounded with the tone of the melody note whereby an automatic ensemble performance is realized.

    Abstract: In an electronic musical instrument, a tone source circuit provides tone signals of audio frequencies representing respective notes in a musical scale. A keyboard circuit provides a keying sequence pulses each existing at such a time slot of time sharing at an ultra-audible rate as is assigned to each of keys being depressed. The tone signals and the respectively corresponding keying sequence pulses are AND-gated respectively and then OR-gated commonly to produce a combined tone signal. The keying sequence pulses are obtained by sequentially scanning all the keys in the keyboard in one sequence, or may be equivalently obtained by scanning the same named keys in different octaves simultaneously and AND-gating with octave representing pulses. Or the octave representing pulses may be omitted by separately processing tone signals octave by octave. The system is suitable for digitalization and for production in IC configuration.

    Abstract: An electronic musical instrument is of a time-shared digital processing type and capable of producing musical tones for a special performance. There are provided, at suitable time intervals, time periods in which no key code of a depressed key is produced by a key coder. During these time periods, a signal designating a special performance is generated. In a channel assignment circuit which assigns key codes of depressed keys to plural tone production channels there is provided a channel for an exclusive use for the special performance. A circuit for assigning data for the special performance transmits the data to the channel assignment circuit in response to the special performance designation signal from the key coder so that the data selected from among the key data already assigned to the tone production channels for ordinary performance are sequentially assigned to the channel allotted exclusively for the special performance. As an example of the special performance, description is made with respect to an automatic arpeggio performance in which tones are produced at designated orders of location from the lowest tone among the tones of the depressed keys.
