    摘要: It is known to contact molten cast iron with various treating agents in the casting mold in order to influence the base structure or the form of the graphite. Such casting molds for making castings of cast iron containing vermicular and/or spheroidal graphite are provided with an intermediate chamber, which is provided in the pouring system between the pouring gate and the ingate to the casting mold proper. That intermediate chamber serves to receive the graphitizing agent and to contact it with the molten cast iron. To permit a functional adaptation of the chamber surface area or the surface area of the treating agent contained in the chamber to the pouring gate, which changes as the pouring proceeds, the casting mold is provided with a frustopyramidal intermediate chamber which has a rectangular base disposed in the parting plane of the mold.

    摘要: The present invention provides a treatment agent for cast iron melts based upon ferrosilicon magnesium with a silicon content of from 40 to 80% by weight and a magnesium content of from 0.5 to 15% by weight, said agent being in the form of granules with a specific surface area of from 0.2 to 0.8 m.sup.2 /g. according to BET.The present invention also provides a process for the production of this treatment agent, wherein a jet of molten ferrosilicon magnesium alloy is directed on to a bounce plate made of fire-resistant material and the melt droplets which bounce back from bounce plate are allowed to solidify in a liquid-filled collection receiver.

    摘要: A slow fade cast iron inocculant is made up of(a) a silicon-containing matrix of iron silicon alloys and having a crystal structure,(b) compounds, present in the matrix crystal structure, of high-melting point calcium aluminum silicates, generally in the form CaO.Al.sub.2 O.sub.3.2SiO.sub.2 +Al.sub.2 O.sub.3.2SiO.sub.2, and(c) a dicalcium aluminum silicate material with up to 20% by weight of silicon carbide and 10% by weight of calcium carbide.The relation between the matrix and the high-melting point calcium aluminum silicates to the dicalcium silicate material is about 1 to 0.05-0.2. The amount of high-melting point calcium aluminum silicates in the matrix is 5 to 30% by weight and, more specially 8 to 15% by weight.

As the passivating agent, compounds from the series of the s-triazine and/or guanidine derivatives, preferably from 2 to 5% by weight of dicyandiamide, applied by means of an adhesion promoter, are preferred. The wires used in accordance with the invention serve to produce cast iron with spheroidal and vermicular graphite, to desulphurize pig iron melts or to produce metal alloys.
