    Abstract: An information processing apparatus calculates, in a case of adding a new magnetic tape to a storage pool, the number of magnetic tapes to be added to the storage pool such that a free capacity of the storage pool after addition of the new magnetic tape is set to be equal to or larger than a capacity obtained by adding, to an assumed value of a total capacity of data to be recorded in the storage pool, an excess according to the number of pieces of parallel processing when recording data in the storage pool, the number being equal to or smaller than a number obtained by multiplying the number of magnetic tapes satisfying an insufficient capacity of the storage pool by the number of pieces of parallel processing, and performs control of adding the calculated number of new magnetic tapes to the storage pool.

    Abstract: An information processing apparatus performs first migration processing of migrating data from a relatively-old-generation magnetic tape included in one storage pool of a plurality of storage pools to relatively-new-generation magnetic tapes included in each of the plurality of storage pools in a case where the number of tape drives which are available for data migration is equal to or larger than a threshold value, the tape drives being relatively-new-generation tape drives among a plurality of generations of tape drives, and performs second migration processing of migrating data from migration-source magnetic tapes as relatively-old-generation magnetic tapes included in the storage pool to migration-destination magnetic tapes of which the number is smaller than a multiplicity in a case where the number of the tape drives is smaller than the threshold value.

    Abstract: An information processing device includes a recording unit that records a plurality of objects including data and metadata related to the data on a magnetic recording medium, and executes, after recording at least one of the objects, processing of recording first set data which is a set of the metadata included in the object. The first set data is the set of the metadata included in the object recorded after recording the first set data that is recorded immediately before. The magnetic recording medium has a magnetic layer containing a ferromagnetic powder and a binding agent on a non-magnetic support. A difference between spacings S0.5 and S13.5 measured under pressures of 0.5 atm and 13.5 atm by an optical interference method after n-hexane cleaning on a surface of the magnetic layer is equal to or less than 3.0 nm.
