摘要: A mechanism for synchronizing transmission of frames in a telecommunications network including a mobile station, a radio network controller, at least one base station. The mobile station and each base station have a corresponding timing reference. The mechanism includes or performs the steps of establishing a connection-specific timing reference which is common to all nodes involved in the connection; determining, for the base stations an offset between the timing reference of the base station in question and the CFN; and using the offset in the base stations, to compensate for the difference between the timing references.

摘要: A method, terminal device, network element, system and computer program product for controlling discontinuous reception or transmission at a terminal device of a communication network are disclosed. A regular discontinuous reception or transmission cycle of a regular discontinuous reception or transmission scheme is set by using a first control layer, and in addition thereto a shorter temporary discontinuous reception or transmission cycle of an interim discontinuous reception or transmission scheme can be set by using a second control layer. This arrangement provides long discontinuous reception or transmission cycles for power consumption improvements while at the same time ensuring that the network can easily and flexibly shorten these cycles for increased data throughput, if needed.

摘要: A method of operating a mobile station in a WCDMA system. The mobile station has a rake receiver (90) having a plurality of demodulator fingers (71,72,73). One of the demodulator fingers monitors a neighbouring cell and other demodulator fingers monitor an assigned cell. When the mobile station is in an idle mode, if it is stationary, activity of the demodulator is reduced by switching off the demodulator finger which monitors the neighbouring cell.

摘要: Speech coding of the code excited linear predictive type is implemented by providing an excitation vector which comprises a set of a pre-determined number of pulse patterns from a codebook of P pulse patterns, which have a selected orientation and a pre-determined delay with respect to the starting point of the excitation vector. This requires modest computational power and a small memory space, which allows it to be implemented in one signal processor.

摘要: A method, receiving device, network element, system and computer program product for controlling discontinuous reception at a receiving device of a communication network are disclosed. A regular discontinuous reception cycle of a discontinuous reception scheme is set, and this regular discontinuous reception cycle is switched to a shorter temporary discontinuous reception cycle or is switched off, in response to an event which triggers a reply of the communication network to the receiving device. Thereby, delays of network replies can be shortened or controlled in case discontinuous reception (DRX) cycles are implemented at the receiving device.

摘要: Phone numbers of recently made, received or missed phone calls are stored (16) in a memory of a mobile telephone and associated with a distinctive alerting sound. An incoming call matching (34) one of the stored phone numbers causes the distinctive alerting sound to be sounded unless the phone number matches (26) a number prestored by the user and associated with an individual or organization known to the user.

摘要: The invention relates to internal measurement methods of mobile communication systems, more particularly how to arrange time intended for signal measurement for the mobile stations. In the method according to the invention the RSSI and OTD measurements are made from the same data collected during a certain period of time, whereby the same measurement data in a way is used two times in order to generate two different sets of measurement results. This saves the free time available during one frame, because it is not necessary to arrange separate measurement periods for the RSSI and the OTD measurements.

摘要: Disclosed is a method and a device for compensating the DC offset (dU) of a D/A converter (2), particularly in the base frequency modulator of a mobile phone. The method and the device use an error correction register (5), whose value is changed on the basis of the DC offset, and which is added to each signal sample to be converted for compensating the DC offset. The value of the error correction register (5) is changed in a testing mode so that a preset control value is fed into the D/A converter (2), corresponding to the zero voltage of the output of an ideal D/A converter; the voltage values of outputs of a differential output pair (2a, 2b) arranged in connection with the D/A converter (2) are compared to verify the polarity of the voltage difference (dU) of the outputs and the polarity, i.e. the sign, of a relative DC offset; and, on the basis of the polarity of the voltage difference (dU), the value of the error correction register (5) is either decreased or increased by one from the preset initial value which is preferably zero.

摘要: A computer controlled apparatus includes a program counter for manifesting program count values and a processor for executing a prestored program in accordance with the program count values. The apparatus includes a read only memory with a prestored program that is accessible in response to generation of a span of program count values. Auxiliary memory includes a prestored program segment. A control circuit is coupled to the program counter and stores a predetermined program count value within the span of program count values in ROM. The control circuit is responsive to a match of a program count value from the program counter and the determined program count value to cause the program counter to be loaded with a branch program count value. That value enables the processor to immediately access and execute the prestored program segment from the auxiliary memory in lieu of a subspan of program count addresses in the ROM. The processor responds to the branch program count value as though it is a next program count value from a previous program count value, thereby seamlessly executing the second prestored program.
