The interruption device may interrupt the flow of power to an external device upon the detection of an event, such as a circuit overload or short circuit. Interrupting the flow of power may cause power to be cut off to a receiving connector, which supplies power to the external device, by re-routing the flow of power away from the receiving connector by the use of relay switches. By interrupting and re-routing the flow of power, an electrical fire, damage to the external device or other hazard may be prevented. Once the source of the problem, such as a defective external device, has been removed or fixed, the flow of power may be re-routed back to the receiving connector.

The control knob unit may be secured to and engaged with an operational shaft on the appliance which controls the flow of gas or power to the appliance. The system may include one or more detectors (or detector modules) that are configured to emit a signal upon an occurrence of the event, such as a fire, which may be an early indication of a developing emergency. The signal may be in the form of an audible alert, such as sound (or sound waves). A data transceiver processing module may receive a plurality of sound waves and analyze the plurality of sound waves for a variation in frequency (or Doppler Effect) to determine if any of the sound waves originate from the one or more detector modules.

The system is applicable to most cooking appliances that can be set to turn off the knobs remotely, wherein the appliance gas valve or electric control switch is remotely rotated to shutoff position. The device composed of solenoid coils, springs, sprocket, audio interface, wireless modules, motor assembly and remote control module for engaging appliances operational shaft and which, when rotated to activate the appliances it actuates the remote transceiver module. The remote transmitter device have LED indicator when the remote knob is activated. This transmitter device may include programming to adjust timer modes of the appliances knobs.
