Abstract:
A test apparatus comprising a self illuminated light source and second moveable element having spectrophotometrically neutral gray and colour patches of predetermined hues and saturations. A digital software file provides identical spectrophotometrically neutral grayscale and colour data which, when reproduced on a monitor or projection system, should match the grayscale and test colors provided by the apparatus. When the apparatus is placed in front of the monitor image or projected image, the neutral grays and colour patches reproduced on the monitor image or projected image are compared against the image of the apparatus.
Abstract:
An apparatus for identifying differences in the visual and recorded appearance of colors and gray tones illuminated by light sources having different spectral distribution and having: a first image with illumination, with separate and different colour elements and with gray scale elements, apertures in the first image adjacent to the elements, a second image with illumination having a plurality of separate elements of colour and gray scale, corresponding to the elements of the first image so that the elements on the second image are viewable through the apertures in the first image, with corresponding colour and gray scale elements adjacent to one another in the first and second images, and a method of comparing light quality using such apparatus.
Abstract:
An apparatus which provides a multiplicity of test colors and neutral tones simultaneously within a microscope's optical system that may be used to align, and/or calibrate the microscope, and the light source and any associated recording devices, automatically or with input from an operator. The test colors and neutral tones may also be used as references against which to judge specimens being viewed in the microscope. Also disclosed is a method of operating a microscope using such a such pattern.
Abstract:
A test panel containing test elements, and a control element, and a replica control element, and a method of monitoring the accuracy of color, grayscale and other test image elements subject to degradation through age, exposure, shrinkage, or other causes.
Abstract:
An apparatus for deploying test images for a preset period within the field of view of a camera, and having; a panel supporting the test image, and moveable transmission connected with the panel and operable to deploy, and retrieve, the panel.
Abstract:
There is disclosed herein methods for measuring reproducing capability of image recording and reproducing devices. The method includes generating an image of a test panel, wherein the image was captured by a test device (e.g., capturing the test image with the test device and uploading the same to a computer processing device; or electronically receiving the test image at a processing device). The image comprises a digital image including therein the test panel. The image is compared to a reference image of a reference panel.
Abstract:
The invention is an apparatus designed to solve problems in camera evaluation, namely the selection of camera equipment based on tests that are different to the real world conditions under which the cameras will be used. This is a significant problem, particularly in law enforcement, security and medical imaging. Also disclosed is a method of comparing the performance of two or more movie cameras, under identical simulated real world conditions.
