Abstract: A control device includes: a warm-up determiner which determines, when color calibration of a display device is to be performed, whether a warm-up of a colorimeter is necessary, based on a predetermined condition; a display controller which causes, when the warm-up determiner determines that the warm-up of the colorimeter is necessary, a predetermined image, which indicates an attachment position of the colorimeter onto the display device, to be displayed on the display device; and a warm-up controller which starts, when the colorimeter is determined as being attached at the attachment position, the warm-up of the colorimeter by using the display device.

Abstract: A color correction system and a colorimeter positioning method therefore are provided. A first color block is displayed in a first display area of a display. During the period of displaying the first color block, a first sensing value is acquired for the first color block through a sensor of a colorimeter. The first sensing value is compared with a first reference value to determine whether the first sensing value meets the first specific condition. In response to the first sensing value meeting the first specific condition, a second color block is displayed in the first display area of the display. During the period of displaying the second color block, a second sensing value is acquired for the second color block through the sensor. The second sensing value is compared with a second reference value to determine whether the second sensing value meets the second specific condition.

Abstract: A display light measurement method which can measure color representation of a various types of display devices regardless of the specification of the display device; a computer program, and a measurement system. A measurement device connected to an optical sensor can communicate with a target display device (information terminal) to be measured. The measurement device transmits content including a color patch to the display device to cause the display device to display the content and performs a measurement on the displayed content using the optical sensor. To perform measurements on many color patches, the measurement device repeats the following: when a measurement on one color patch being displayed is complete, the measurement device transmits content including another color patch to the display device to cause the display device to display the content and performs a measurement on the content being displayed.

Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for measuring spectral hemispherical reflectance. One embodiment is a system that includes a laser that emits a beam of light, and an optical chopper disposed between the laser and a sample. The chopper blocks the beam while the chopper is at a first angle of rotation, redirects the beam along a reference path while the chopper is at a second angle of rotation, and permits the beam to follow a sample path through the chopper and strike the sample while the chopper is at a third angle of rotation. The system also includes a hollow sphere that defines a slot through which the sample path and reference path enter the sphere. The hollow sphere includes a spectral hemispherical reflectance detector, a mount that receives the sample at the sphere, and an actuator that rotates the sphere about an axis that intersects the sample.

Abstract: Color calibration of color image rendering devices, such as large color displays, which operate by either projection or emission of images, utilize internal color measurement instrument or external color measurement modules locatable on a wall or speaker. A dual use camera is provided for a portable or laptop computer, or a cellular phone, handset, personal digital assistant or other handheld device with a digital camera, in which one of the camera or a display is movable with respect to the other to enable the camera in a first mode to capture images of the display for enabling calibration of the display, and in a second mode for capturing image other than of the display. The displays may represent rendering devices for enabling virtual proofing in a network, or may be part of stand-alone systems and apparatuses for color calibration. Improved calibration is also provided for sensing and correcting for non-uniformities of rendering devices, such as color displays, printer, presses, or other color image rendering device.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for detecting a display screen are provided. The apparatus comprises: a detection module for detecting components of a primary color in the light at a display side when a first and second display signal are input to the display screen, wherein the first and second display signal are used for displaying a monochromatic image in black and a monochromatic image in a color other than black; and a data processing unit for calculating a difference between components of the primary color which are detected when the first and second display signal are input, and determining whether there is a fault in the display screen according to the difference. The effect of ambient light on detection results can be reduced, and the detection results are more close to the actual case.

Abstract: A backlight module includes a light source, a light guide plate and a light-adjusting member. A light source chromaticity is measured from light generated by the light source. The light guide plate has a light-incident surface and a light-emitting surface. Light generated by the light source enters the light guide plate and emits out from the light-emitting surface. With the light-adjusting member, a first light guide plate chromaticity is measured from the light-emitting surface. There is a first difference value between the first light guide plate chromaticity and the light source chromaticity. Without the light-adjusting member, a second light guide plate chromaticity is measured from the light-emitting surface. There is a second difference value between the second light guide plate chromaticity and the light source chromaticity. The first difference value is different from the second difference value.
