Abstract: According to one embodiment of this disclosure, a vehicle having an electric machine and at least one controller is described. The electric machine may be configured to generate creep torque to move the vehicle. The controller may be programmed to decrease a target speed of a torque converter impeller to create a desired brake torque and partially cancel the creep torque without application of friction brakes in response to a brake pedal being pressed while an accelerator pedal is not being pressed.

Abstract: A vehicle includes a disconnect clutch selectively coupling an engine and an electric machine. The vehicle further includes a mechanical pump driven by the electric machine and operable to pressurize fluid for the clutch. The vehicle includes a controller programmed to, in response to the electric machine being inoperable, activate an auxiliary starter to start the engine, activate an electric pump operable to pressurize fluid to the clutch, and operate the engine to drive the mechanical pump.

Abstract: A hybrid vehicle includes a traction battery, an internal combustion engine, an electric machine configured to provide torque assistance to the engine, and a controller or a powertrain control system having a controller. The controller is programmed to respond to a percentage of state of charge (SOC) allocated for torque assistance. An allocation for torque assistance is a change in SOC of the battery attributed to a current flow to the electric machine for torque assistance. When the change in SOC attributed to the current flow is greater than a predetermined change, the controller will halt the current flow to the electric machine to cease torque assistance.
