摘要: A proxy server causes an authentication authority to authenticate a client in response to a first Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) request of the client on a connection. It does not cause the client to be authenticated in response subsequent requests on the connection as long as the underlying connection is not broken, the subsequent requests are on behalf of the same client, the client has not been removed from the system, the client's password has not changed, a “safety net” timer has not expired, or any other policy that the server chooses to enforce. This eliminates the overhead of constant re-authentication in response to each SIP request.

摘要: In one configuration, an enterprise network is provided that includes geographically dislocated first and second network regions 202 and 206, the first and second network regions being in communication with one another through first and second networks 252 and 248 and respectively comprising first and second gateways 220 and 224 and first and second groupings of links connected to the second network 248. A common electronic address is associated with the second grouping of links. In response to a request from a first subscriber to initiate a communication session with a second subscriber in the other network region, a media server 200 determines that the first network 252 is currently incapable of supporting the bearer channel for the session. In response, the first gateway 220 transmits the common electronic address to the second gateway 224. After the common electronic address is received by the second gateway 224, the first gateway 220 transmits in band to the second gateway 224 an identifier that is used to establish the communication session.

摘要: An exemplary aspect is directed toward one or more solutions that are capable of providing feedback information about OCAP/ACAP/IMS solutions generally related to audience acceptance and satisfaction, and extensions thereto. For example, one exemplary aspect is directed toward information, such as consumer feedback about their viewing choices, being gathered, evaluated and distributed. Even more specifically, an exemplary aspect is directed toward the use of information, such as personalized or customized information and personal preferences contained in an STB combined with an OCAP/ACAP/IMS intelligent personal agent and application(s) to provide advanced interactive and interoperable services to both obtain and distribute feedback about OCAP/ACAP/IMS services.

摘要: An automated, or semi-automated system that manages conference attendance to the parties who are really necessary based on, for example, one or more of participation and feedback during previous conference call(s) (and/or on a current call) and the ability to load a thick client for facilitating and coordinating non-verbal communications between conference participants. It could be advantageous for a conference participant to have the ability to indicate non-verbally their interest the conference, rather than disrupt the meeting, thus adding to productivity. It could also add to the utility if a conference coordinator or host could easily keep a record of why attendees drop from the conference, and intelligently apply this record to future scheduling. Another exemplary advantage is to set-up a pre-canned message and coordinate delivery of such messages about participation, interest, and/or status between two or more members (including the host) of the conference call.

摘要: A method and apparatus for license distribution are disclosed. An endpoint requests information from a server related to information required for the server to grant a license. The server provides the required information to the endpoint. The endpoint obtains the required information, and forwards the information to the server. The server, upon receiving the information, determines if a license may be granted to the endpoint, and transmits a license authorization to the endpoint, which includes the number of licenses which are granted.

摘要: An archival storage cluster of preferably symmetric nodes includes a metadata management system that organizes and provides access to given metadata, preferably in the form of metadata objects. Each metadata object may have a unique name, and metadata objects are organized into regions. Preferably, a region is selected by hashing one or more object attributes (e.g., the object's name) and extracting a given number of bits of the resulting hash value. The number of bits may be controlled by a configuration parameter. Each region is stored redundantly. A region comprises a set of region copies. In particular, there is one authoritative copy of the region, and zero or more backup copies. The number of backup copies may be controlled by a configuration parameter. Region copies are distributed across the nodes of the cluster so as to balance the number of authoritative region copies per node, as well as the number of total region copies per node. Backup region copies are maintained synchronized to their associated authoritative region copy.

摘要: The present invention is directed to the maintenance of call signaling information in connection with realtime communications established using a packet data network. According to the present invention, call state information related to a realtime communication is provided by a call controller to an interconnected client. The client stores the call state information. In the event of a failure of a call signaling channel between the call controller and the client or in the event of a failure of the call controller, the client may establish contact with an alternate call controller, and may provide the call state information that has been stored on the client to the alternate call controller. The alternate call controller may then restore call features associated with the realtime communication.
