The status affects a measurement of a quality of a radio channel between the base station and a user equipment comprised in the cellular network. The measurement is to be performed by the user equipment. The base station receives a feedback report from the user equipment comprising the measurement. The base station evaluates a validity of the measurement based on the determined status. The base station sends a report to the network management unit. The report comprises an indication of the measurement and an indication of the validity, thereby assisting the network management unit in managing the cellular network.

The available antenna (15a2,) is prepared for compensation by reconfiguring one or more antenna parameters thereof in accordance with a compensating antenna parameter set. A new compensating cell (20) is transmitted from the prepared antenna (15a2). Upon cell recovery the compensating cell (20) is removed and the reconfigurable physical antennas (15a2) of the compensating cell (20) returned to the initial antenna parameter set.

An object of the present invention is to provide a mechanism for observing random access performance in a Long Term Evolution network. The object is achieved by a method in a base station (110). The method observes a random access performance in a Long Term Evolution communication network. The random access performance is defined by an access delay, where the access delay is a delay from the initial random access attempt until access is granted. The method comprises receiving a respective report from a plural of user equipments (115), where each of the respective user equipment (115) has performed a random access process and has received a random access grant. Respective report will comprise access delay related random access information. Further the method comprises determining a respective access delay, which is based on each of the access delay related random access information. The determined access delays will be the basis for the estimation of access delay statistics. Finally will the random access performance be observed based on the access delay statistics.

By receipt of the neighboring base station identifier, the base station becomes aware of and is enabled to contact, or connect with, the neighboring base station more directly, without the need of doing it through the user equipment. For a first optimization state, a first forward triggering condition and a first range of network element settings, allowable in first network element settings optimization are determined. For a further automated optimization state, determining a further forward triggering condition, and a further range of network element settings, allowable in a further network element setting optimization. An initial set of network element settings is assigned to an initial automated optimization state. The first forward triggering condition is evaluated and a migration to the first automated optimization state is performed upon fulfillment of the first forward triggering condition. A further forward triggering condition is evaluated and a migration to a further automated optimization state is performed upon the further forward triggering condition. The migrating is repeated until reaching a final automated optimization state.

In a cellular radio system a message indicating a change of cell size can be transmitted to a number of affected cells, in particular, neighboring cells. The affected cells receiving such a message can be adapted to use the information in the message when determining self-optimization parameters used for control purposes. Hereby, better response times can be achieved without reducing noise sensitivity.
