Abstract: The electric cartridge for an electronic cigarette of this invention comprises a piece of flexible substrate material comprising at least a flexible film which mounts an electrically conductive network in the form of an array and defining a plurality of resistive zones (pixels) and a plurality of power supply pins for supplying one or more electric currents and connected to the resistive zones. The resistive zones define heating means and are grouped into distinct modules. Each module corresponds to an uninterrupted portion of the electrically conductive network and comprises at least one resistive zone and respective power supply pins. The electric cartridge includes a plurality of portions of aromatic substance positioned on at least one face of the piece of flexible material. Each portion is associated with a resistive zone and positioned in proximity to a heating surface of the respective resistive zone.

Abstract: A machine for making sub-units of smoking articles includes a conveyor, a feed unit and an applicator. The conveyor conveys a succession of tubular segments transversely along a conveying direction. The feed unit feeds and conveys a continuous web and advances the web along a feed direction parallel to the conveying direction of the tubular segments so that the web faces respective application ends of the tubular segments. The applicator is movable along an application direction parallel to an axis of predominant extension of the succession of tubular segments and is configured to engage the web so as to separate respective closing elements from it. The applicator is also configured to apply the closing element internally or externally on an application end of a respective tubular segment in such a way as to form a closing wall to at least partly close the application end.

Abstract: A machine for making cigarette filters and which includes a forming beam having an internal channel whose transverse cross section changes shape along the main longitudinal direction of the channel. Porous conveyor means carry the tow along a feed path in the channel complying with the shape thereof and thereby being wrapped around the tow. At least one treatment station located along the feed path includes a nozzle for blowing a flow of steam into the channel. Abstract: A tray for containing products with reduced longitudinal dimensions, including a plurality of accumulation chambers, each of which is delimited by a rear wall, a base wall and two side walls for containing a layer of a plurality of the products stored according to an ordered orientation and covering an entire surface of the rear wall The accumulation chambers define modules whose respective rear walls are parallel to each other and a distance between two rear walls of two adjacent modules is substantially the same as reduced longitudinal dimensions of the products contained therein. Abstract: A method for making a sub-unit of a smoking article, specifically an HNB smoking article, includes preparing a rod segment, of the tobacco industry and wrapping a connecting strip of wrapping material round that rod segment, about a wrapping axis, in such a way that a first portion of the connecting strip is superposed on a first end of the rod segment and a second portion of it is axially protruding from the first end of the rod segment thereby defining a tubular wrapping which encloses a containment chamber. The method also includes a step of making a wall, transverse to the wrapping axis, defining an at least partial closure of the containment chamber, specifically by folding an end portion of the second portion the connecting strip.
