A method to set up at least one movable operating member (5, 7) of an automatic machine (1) for manufacturing consumer articles (3) comprising the steps (16, 17) of: defining a first motion profile (FP) of the movable operating member (5, 7), determining possible imperfections in the processing of the articles (3), defining a corresponding second motion profile (SP) of an electric actuator system (8, 9), which, through a motion transmission system (12), is mechanically connected to the movable operating member (5, 7) and moves the movable operating member (5, 7) with the first motion profile (FP), correcting, by means of an interface device (15) of the automatic machine (1) and based on the possible determined imperfections, at least one conversion parameter (50) concerning the processing on the articles (3) performed by the movable operating member (5, 7); processing the first motion profile (FP), thus obtaining a first modified profile (MFP) of the movable operating member (5, 7).

The method calls for the further steps of: determining possible imperfections in the processing of the articles caused by the movable operating member; correcting, by means of an interface device and on the basis of the possible imperfections, the first motion profile, thus obtaining a first changed profile of the moveable operating member; and calculating, through a control unit, a reverse kinematics of the first changed profile so as to obtain a corresponding second changed profile to be commanded to the electric actuator system.

A method for the predictive maintenance of an automatic machine for manufacturing or packing consumer articles comprising the steps of: detecting and recording at least a sampling series relating to at least one motorization metric of at least one electric actuator, by means of at least one respective local control unit; transmitting the recorded sampling series to a data processing unit; defining at least one multidimensional tolerance horizon within an anomaly matrix having as dimensions at least two statistical features based on at least one sampling series detected and relative at least to the detected motorization metric; calculating the two statistical features in order to define the position of an actual condition within the anomaly matrix; determining, based on the position of the actual condition in the anomaly matrix and the multidimensional tolerance horizon, the imminence of necessary maintenance.

An automatic product packing machine having: a conveying device which feeds a product for packing along a packing path, which originates at a first feed station and extends through a second feed station and at least one work station; an electric machine motor which drives at least part of the conveying device to move the conveying device; a manual control operated manually by an operator; and a control unit which controls operation of the electric machine motor according to the position of the manual control; and a portable device, which can be gripped and moved about freely by an operator, and supports the manual control.
