Abstract: A system and method are described which are useful for monitoring parameters of drilling fluid within a drilling system comprising a drilling assembly. The drilling assembly is connected between a drilling platform and a wellhead and is useful for more safely drilling a wellbore necessary for hydrocarbon exploration and production by signaling the occurrence of a kick. The drilling assembly comprises a reader module for reading data information of at least one RF tag dispersed in a returned drilling fluid. The data information of the RF tag is transmitted to a controller via a communication link to calculate related parameters of the returned drilling fluid. A method for monitoring parameters of drilling fluid, and an allied blowout preventer for a drilling system are also provided.

Abstract: A fuel cell system is disclosed, which includes a fuel cell stack coupled to a load for providing power, a gas delivery system coupled to the fuel cell stack for providing fuel and oxygen to the fuel cell stack and a control system. The control system includes a forward controller for generating a desired control instruction signal based on a command from the load, and a correction controller for generating a control correction signal to avoid violating operational constraints of the fuel cell stack based on at least one measured signal from the fuel cell system. The control system generates a control signal based on the desired control instruction signal and the control correction signal, and controls the gas delivery system based on the generated control signal to ensure the fuel cell stack is operated within safe operating limits. A method for controlling the fuel cell system is also disclosed.

Abstract: A combustion optimization system is disclosed. The system includes a boiler having a plurality of zonal locations, a sensor grid comprising a plurality of sensors, a sensor validation device and an optimizing controller. The plurality of sensors are configured to provide a plurality of sensor signals and the plurality of sensor signals are indicative of measurements of the respective zonal locations. The sensor validation device is configured for receiving the plurality of sensor signals from the plurality of sensors and generating validated sensor signals of the respective sensors based on the plurality of received sensor signals and pre-determined correlations among the plurality of received sensor signals. The optimizing controller is configured for optimizing at least one operating parameter of the boiler based on the validated sensor signals of the respective sensors. A combustion optimization method is also disclosed.
