Abstract: A system includes: a module configured to: compare operating parameters with predetermined thresholds, respectively; and set indicators for the operating parameters based on the comparisons, respectively; a module configured to: set a first indicator to a first state when all of first ones of the indicators are in a first state; and set the first indicator to a second state when at least one of the first ones of the indicators is in a second state; a module configured to: set a second indicator to a first state when at least one of second ones of the indicators are in a first state; and set the second indicator to a second state when all of the second ones of the indicators are in a second state; and a module configured to indicate whether an electric motor is degraded based on at least one of the first and second indicators.

Abstract: A control system for a vehicle includes wheel slip control loop including a wheel slip controller configured to control wheel slip based on wheel speed measured at one or more wheels of the vehicle. A wheel flare control loop includes a wheel flare controller configured to control wheel flare based on transmission output speed at an output of a transmission of the vehicle. A controller is configured to select one of the wheel slip controller to control the wheel slip and the wheel flare controller to control the wheel flare during operation of the vehicle.

Abstract: A method for controlling the powertrain system for a vehicle improves powertrain performance. The powertrain system includes an internal combustion engine comprising a crankshaft, an isolator assembly, a motor generator unit, and a powertrain control module. The isolator assembly includes a first member fixedly connected for common rotation with the crankshaft of the internal combustion engine and a second member. The motor generator unit includes a pulley coupled with the second member of the isolator assembly for torque transfer. The powertrain control module comprises a control logic sequence and controls the operation of the powertrain system.
