    Abstract: A wheel and brake assembly comprising: a stator; a rotating assembly mounted around and rotatable relative to the stator about an axis A; a torque tube in fixed engagement with the stator; a stack of brake disks mounted about the torque tube, the stack of brake disks comprising alternate rotor disks and stator disks, the stator disks attached to the torque tube and the rotor disks attached to the rotating assembly; a brake actuator configured to, in response to a brake command, apply a pressing force on the stack of brake disks to cause frictional engagement between the rotor disks and the stator disks such that the stator disks prevent the rotor disks and, hence the rotating assembly, from rotating relative to the torque tube.

    Abstract: A braking system (4) for an aircraft wheel (2) comprises first and second brake rotor discs (20a, 20b) axially spaced along an axis (A) and rotationally coupled to the wheel (2), a stator disc (24) arranged axially between the first and second rotor discs (20a, 20b), and a heat shield (34) mounted to at least one of the first and second rotor discs (20a, 20b). Radially outer portions (30) of the first and second rotor discs (20a, 20b) extend radially outwardly of the stator disc (24) to define a gap (32) between the radially outer portions (30) of the first and second rotor discs (20a, 20b). The heat shield (34) extends at least partially over or into the gap (32).

    Abstract: A chin ring heat shield for a wheel assembly arranged to provide a shield between convection and radiation heat from braking components and a tire of the wheel assembly, the chin ring comprising a first, radially extending, flat portion extending from a first chin ring end and a second, concave portion extending generally axially away from the first portion to a second chin ring end, wherein the axial length from the first chin ring end to the second chin ring end is sufficient to block a line of sight between the braking components and the tire when the chin ring is mounted between the braking components and the tire.
