Abstract: A carbon/carbon part and processes for making carbon/carbon parts are provided. The process involves forming steps, carbonization steps and densification steps. The forming steps may include needling fibrous layers to form fibers that extend in three directions. Pressure may be applied to a fibrous preform at an elevated temperature to increase the fiber volume ratio of the fibrous preform. The densification steps may include filling the voids or pores of the fibrous preform with a carbon matrix.

The first wear liner further includes a first rib protruding from and extending radially across the first non-wear surface of the first wear liner, according to various embodiments. Abstract: A common vacuum header for CVI/CVD furnaces is provided. A vacuum system may comprise a furnace environment in fluid communication with a vacuum environment via a common vacuum header. The furnace environment may have one or more furnaces. The vacuum environment may have one or more vacuum pumps configured to provide a desired pressure to the furnace environment via the common vacuum header. A vacuum control system may monitor the common vacuum header and each vacuum pump, and may change the exhaust flow from the vacuum environment based on the monitoring.
