Abstract: There is provided a method of operating a wearable heads-up display (WHUD). The WHUD may include a light source, a spatial modulator, and a display optic. The method may include generating, by the light source, an output light to form an image viewable by a user of the WHUD. The method may also include receiving a position of a pupil of the user relative to an eyebox of the WHUD, and obtaining an image correction map based on the position of the pupil. Moreover, the method may include adjusting the output light to form an adjusted output light. The adjusted output light may be adjusted based on the image correction map to reduce at least one of an intensity non-uniformity and a color balance non-uniformity of the image. The method may also include directing, by the display optic, the adjusted output light into a field of view of the user.

Abstract: A system includes a light source to generate a source light, a spatial modulator to receive the source light. A display element to receive the source light from the spatial modulator and to direct the source light towards an eye, and a controller. The controller is to receive initial image data for an image to be displayed, the image comprising a plurality of pixels having a plurality of brightness levels, determine an image power based on the brightness levels, and determine an excess power status based on a comparison of the image power to a specified power threshold. Responsive to the excess power status indicating the image power is to exceed the specified power threshold, the controller is to reduce the brightness levels to generate updated image data, and control the light source and the spatial modulator to project the image using the updated image data.

Abstract: A method of operating a wearable heads-up display that in use is worn on a head of a subject user includes projecting light to an eye of the subject user and detecting an ambient light condition in an environment of the wearable heads-up display by an ambient light sensor. The method includes measuring a pupil size of the eye of the subject user and determining a target luminous flux based on an output of the ambient light sensor and the pupil size. A current luminous flux of the light projected to the eye of the subject user is adjusted based on the target luminous flux.

Abstract: A method of operating a wearable heads-up display that in use is worn on a head of a user includes generating an infrared light, scanning the infrared light over an eye of the user, detecting reflections of infrared light from the eye of the user, and extracting test biometric identification data from at least a portion of the detected reflections and corresponding scan orientations. A similarity measure between the test biometric identification data and reference biometric identification data associated with the wearable heads-up display is determined. The user is authenticated based on the similarity measure.
