Abstract: A wearable device includes a wearable body that in use is worn on or proximate a skin of a wearer and a wearable antenna embedded in the wearable body and insulated from the wearable body. The wearable antenna includes a microwave dielectric substrate having a first major surface, a second major surface opposed to the first major surface, and a relative permittivity of at least 90. An electrically conductive patch is disposed on the first major surface, a feed line is connected to a feed point of the electrically conductive patch, and an electrically conductive ground plane is disposed on a far side of the second major surface relative to the first major surface.

Abstract: Lightguide integrity monitoring in a head mounted display is facilitated by monitoring an elongated conductor disposed proximal a lightguide in an optical combiner. When a sufficient change in one or more electrical characteristics of the elongated conductor is detected, a signal indicating that the lightguide has been damaged may be generated, which may alert the user to the damage or disable one or more light sources in the HMD to prevent eye discomfort. The monitored electrical characteristics of the elongated conductor may include connectivity, impedance, and gain, among others. A sufficient change in the one or more electrical characteristics may be detected based on a percentage change in an electrical characteristic, a change in more than one electrical characteristic, or a change in a ratio of two electrical characteristics, among others.

Abstract: An apparatus includes an eyeglass frame, a first antenna, a second antenna, and a parasitic element. The eyeglass frame can include at least one rim. The first antenna can be attached to the eyeglass frame. The second antenna can be attached to the eyeglass frame. The second antenna can be disposed on a first side of the at least one rim. The parasitic element can be attached to the eyeglass frame. The parasitic element can be on a second side of the at least one rim. The second side of the at least one rim can be opposite from the first side. A distance from the first antenna to the second antenna can be greater than a distance from the first antenna to the parasitic element. The distance from the first antenna to the second antenna can be greater than a distance from the second antenna to the parasitic element.
