A system and method are provided for forming a cluster of networked devices, such as multifunctional devices (MFDs), by scanning a configuration document. The configuration document is printed using a seed device and is scanned and read by one or more devices which are desired to join the cluster. The configuration document includes encoded data corresponding to the attributes and other characteristics of the seed device. Each device decodes the encoded data corresponding to the configuration document and determines if it is compatible with the seed device. If a device determines that it is compatible with the seed device and is thus able to share its resources with the seed device, and vice versa, the device can decide whether to join the cluster. The cluster self-administers itself; each device independently determines whether to leave the cluster, remain in the cluster, and rejoin the cluster.

Embodiments of the present invention relate to attesting a document that contains encoded data, such as a barcode or DataGlyph. When a document contains encoded data that is not in human-readable form, the document is checked to determine whether content in the encoded data appears somewhere in the document in human-readable form. Based on the amount of content that appears in the document, the document may be marked with a seal that attests to the amount of content in the encoded data that appears in human-readable form. The seal may be visually distinctive to facilitate easy recognition by a user or device.

The teacher/educator reviews stored assessment forms at a digital user interface (DUI) at a multifunction device (MFD) and selects the desired forms and creates an Assessment Batch which includes a List of Students to be given the forms for marking. The system automatically codes each form with personalized student information and prints the individualized assessment forms. The teacher/educator administers the assessment and assessment forms are manually marked, collected and scanned at the MFD, entered into storage and the marked images automatically analyzed and the assessments automatically evaluated from stored rubrics and the teacher/educator is automatically notified by email that the evaluation has been performed. The system enables the teacher/educator to review the evaluations remotely and validate/annotate the evaluation and update the records in storage The Assessment Batch may be created for a list of students in a group, a class, a grade level, a school, a plurality of schools and students in a geographical area.

The methods select a localization key corresponding to the location of the customer, and provide the electronic device and the selected localization key for delivery to the customer. The selected localization key includes a computer-readable medium having stored thereon instructions for execution by a processor of the electronic device. When the localization key is interfaced to the electronic device, the instructions cause the processor of the electronic device to select one of a plurality of localization profiles indicated by the instructions to correspond to the location of the customer and to implement the selected localization profile on the electronic device.
