Abstract:
Simplified and insensitive to ambient condition mechanical bi-directional fiber-optic switch that can work in fire and explosion hazardous environment. The switch houses a sensitive element—a length of single-mode optic fiber and a bending device, which being activated provides specific bending of the optic fiber that introduces high attenuation of an optic signal so completely terminating light signal transmission. The switch can be configured as single on/off switch or multi-channel one.
Abstract:
The RF system for preventing hunting accidents comprising RF interrogator mounted on the firearm or hunter's hat and RF transponder attached to hunter's hat, wherein directional pattern of antennas of the hat-mounted interrogator is directed along the line of view of the hunter so matching with sightline of hunter's rifle; and RF transponder, which, to cover directional pattern of 360 arc degrees in azimuth, contains a number of RF transceiver evenly attached to the hunter's hat in horizontal plane and connected to the single electronic unit. The system provides alert information about “friendly targets” that could be under fire, such as other hunters or persons equipped with said transponder; and if they are, the system develops alert signal: “Do not shoot”.
Abstract:
The RF system for preventing hunting accidents comprising RF interrogator mounted on the firearm and RF transponder attached to hunter's coat, wherein dual-diagram microwave channel of the interrogator, which is directed along the sightline of hunter's rifle, provides alert information about “friendly targets” that could be under fire, such as other hunters or persons and animals equipped with said transponder; and if they are, the system develops alert signal: “Do not shoot”.

Abstract:
Combined IR-RF combat identification friend-or-foe (IFF) system for a ground targets, such as dismounted soldiers, vehicles or military platforms comprising IR-RF interrogator mounted on a firearm and IR-RF transponder mounted on a friendly target. RF channel operates in Ka-band providing brief information about friendly targets that could be in attacked area, and if they are, develop alert signal: “Friendly soldiers are in the area”. The interrogator additionally contains RF channel receiving reflected signal that allows recognize armed foe. IR channel of the system prevents friendly fire in the case of direct sighting to a friendly soldier.
Abstract:
Novel class dynamoelectric machines utilizing “tangential induction” phenomenon—the specific e.m.f. induction, which appears in tangential conductors—is introduced. Alternating-current dynamoelectric machines of this invention house an axially-polarized multi-polar permanent magnet rotor and stator winding having tangentially arranged semi-ring conductors. The rotating permanent-magnet rotor induces current in tangential semi-ring conductors, which, according to Ampere law, could not produce a resistance moment applied to the rotor because the vector of conductor-field velocity is directed along the conductor, and, therefore, such vector orientation does not produce any tangential force. The invention has been successfully embodied in number of “tangential-induction dynamoelectric machines” including multi-phase ones. These dynamoelectric machines can be inverted and work as alternating-current asynchronic electric motors.

The RF system for preventing hunting accidents comprising RF interrogator mounted on the firearm and RF transponder attached to hunter's coat, wherein sharp-diagram K-band RF channel of the interrogator, which is directed along the sightline of hunter's rifle, provides alert information about “friendly targets” that could be under fire, such as other hunters or persons and animals equipped with said transponder; and if they are, the system develops alert signal: “Do not shoot”. Also, the system is optionally equipped with a trigger lock automatically preventing friendly fire.
Abstract:
High-density optical data storage comprising multi-layer optical disc and multi-wavelength reading/recording head, wherein the reading/recording head utilizes a single-mode optic fiber connecting the head with remote short-wavelength laser and acousto-optical (AO) cells that allow precisely positioning the focused light spot on the track and filtering the specific wavelength from multi-wavelength light emitted by the laser built in the head.
Abstract:
A compact and cost-effective infrared IFF alert system for small arm based on fiber-optical (FO) technology, comprising an optical interrogator and an optical transponder, is provided. The interrogator attached to a small arm, such as a rifle, includes a FO laser diode and FO receiver, which are connected to FO graded-index lens attached to sight of the small arm via a single-mode optic fiber, an electronic unit positioned in any convenient place of the small arm, and an alarm LED attached to the sight together with the lens. The transponder, which “a friendly target”—a soldier—is equipped with, contains a set of transmitter-receiver unit and an electronic unit that are mounted on a harness attached to soldier's helmet. This IFF system, when a friendly soldier is targeted, starts visual alarm signal for the shooter and sound signal for the “friendly target” so preventing “friendly fire”.
