Abstract:
Fair-leads for a control wire of a Bowden type cable to be run through a hollow tube of a tubular structure or frame such as the frame of a bicycle or other vehicle whereby the wire is carried and protected interiorly of such tube, the fair-leads being retained in position in a side wall of the tube by the tension of the wires extending through the fair-leads. This is an abstract only of the specific illustration of the invention given by way of example and is not to be used in the interpretation of the claims nor as a limitation on the scope of the invention.
Abstract:
A torque converter with a clutch mechanism in combination wherein an axially movable sheave is movable toward and away from an opposed fixed sheave, the sheaves accomodating a belt therebetween, the movable sheave being movable in accordance with movement of a centrifugal speed responsive device adjacent the movable sheave to vary the effective pitch diameter of the pair of sheaves having their opposed faces engageable by the belt, and in which a clutch mechanism axially aligned with and mounted on the torque converter is actuatable to move the movable sheave from a non-driving position wherein the belt is not in driving engagement with the sheaves to a driving position wherein the belt is in driving engagement with the sheaves, the sheaves being resiliently biased axially apart and the clutch mechanism being resiliently biased away from the movable sheave.
Abstract:
A mower and grass collector, the mower having a closure over its discharge port for opening and closing the port in accordance with the mounting of the grass collector on the mower housing, the closure being spring biased to a closed position and being swingable forwardly and downwardly in the housing by operating means carried by the collector and intrudable into the housing through the port to press open the closure upon mounting of the collector on the mower housing.
Abstract:
A motion transmitting remote control assembly (10) of the type for transmitting motion in a curved path by a motion transmitting core element comprising a conduit (12) for establishing a path for a core element (17). The assembly (10) further comprises connections (18) slideably coupled about the conduit (12) and connecting the conduit (12) to a support structure (20). The assembly (10) includes stop blocks (25, 26) fixedly secured to the conduit (12) at predetermined axially spaced positions and on adjacent opposite sides of the connections (18) to limit the axial movement of the connections (18) along the conduit (12).
Abstract:
A clutch and brake mechanism for a rotary type lawn mower or the like in which a brake plate (28) is movable away and toward friction elements (27) to engage the same, which friction elements (27) are also engageable by a clutch plate (16), the surfaces of the friction elements (27) being arranged to provide that braking and clutching may occur alternately.
Abstract:
An axle driven tire is disclosed having an undersized tire with a series of laterally oriented circumferentially spaced tabs extending radially off of the hub into a circumferentially extending recess in the tire to drivingly tie the tire to the hub.
Abstract:
A mounting (12) for the throttle lever (13) and the dead-man control lever (22) to the handle (11) of an appliance such as a lawn mower, and including a locking bolt (30) carried by a leaf spring (27) to interfere with the movement of the dead-man control lever (22) so as to insure against accidental or unintentional movement of the dead-man control from one position to another.
