摘要: An expandable threaded connection between segments of expandable tubulars that allows the threaded tubular connection to withstand the stresses and deformations imposed on the connection by the tubular expansion process is disclosed. The present invention is a unique hybrid threaded connection that utilizes two complementary thread segments to form the expandable threaded connection. The first segment of the threaded connection utilizes standard box and pin threads such that the threads on the pin member in the area of the first segment fully engage the mating threads on the box member. The second segment of the threaded connection has the threads machined on the pin member in a manner such that material is removed from the stab flank of the pin threads to reduce the standard width of the pin threads. In contrast to the pin threads of the second segment, the box threads of the second segment are standard thread width and, thus, are the same thread width as the box threads in the first segment. The use of the reduced thread width in the pin threads of the second segment allows for a loose fit between the pin threads of the second segment and the box threads of the second segment. As the threaded connection is expanded, the loose fit between the pin and box threads of the second segment allows radial and axial movement between the pin and box threads of the second segments of the threaded connection without causing disengagement of the threaded connection. The disclosed hybrid threaded connection thus utilizes multiple thread segments in which the second thread segment accommodates the stresses and deformations generated by the radial expansion process while the threads of the first segment maintain the coupling strength and the pressure integrity of the threaded connection.

摘要: The present invention generally relates to a method and apparatus for protecting tubular connections. In one aspect, an expandable tubular connection for use in a wellbore is provided. The tubular connection includes a tubular pin member. The tubular connection also includes a tubular box member having an end portion, wherein the tubular pin member is matable with the tubular box member to form the tubular connection. Additionally, the tubular connection includes a sleeve member disposed on the tubular pin member, wherein the sleeve member is configured to substantially protect the end portion of the tubular box member as the tubular connection is lowered into the wellbore. In yet a further aspect, a method for utilizing a tubular connection in a wellbore is provided.

摘要: The present invention generally provides a tubular configured to mate with a second tubular so that sealing integrity is maintained between the tubulars before, during, and after expansion of the tubulars. In one embodiment, a connector for connecting tubulars is provided. The connector includes a pin portion; a box portion, wherein the pin and the box portions are configured to mate; a sealing surface formed in an inner surface of the box portion; a seal disposed in a groove formed in an outer surface of the pin portion, wherein the seal is configured to engage with a sealing surface of the box portion upon mating of the pin and the box portions; and a bump formed on an inner surface of the pin portion, wherein the bump is substantially axially aligned with the groove and the bump is configured so that the seal remains engaged with the box portion during and after expansion of the pin and the box portions.

In one embodiment, the nozzle has a hardened insert that lines a surface of a hole in the shunt and seats on a surface of a wall proximate the hole, thereby restraining movement of the insert relative to the shunt for welding an outer jacket to the shunt.

摘要: The present invention generally relates to a method and an apparatus for placing fiber optic control line in a wellbore. In one aspect, a method for placing a line in a wellbore is provided. The method includes providing a tubular in the wellbore, the tubular having a first conduit operatively attached thereto, whereby the first conduit extends substantially the entire length of the tubular. The method further includes aligning the first conduit with a second conduit operatively attached to a downhole component and forming a hydraulic connection between the first conduit and the second conduit thereby completing a passageway therethrough. Additionally, the method includes urging the line through the passageway. In another aspect, a method for placing a control line in a wellbore is provided. In yet another aspect, an assembly for an intelligent well is provided.

摘要: A locking mechanism for securing a jumper tube to a shunt tube in a well screen assembly for use in gravel packing is disclosed. The jumper tube features a telescoping connector that extends to engage the shunt tube and a locking mechanism that extends the connector the proper distance and then locks the connector into place by engaging lugs that are connected to the jumper tube. Also disclosed is an apparatus and method for securing a connector tube to a well screen assembly using a receiver that is attached to the well screen assembly and is configured to receive a connector tube and secure the connector tube into place with screws. The receiver can be mounted to the well screen assembly via the shunt tube, a top/middle-bottom ring assembly, directly to the base pipe.

摘要: The present invention generally relates to a method and an apparatus for placing fiber optic control line in a wellbore. In one aspect, a method for placing a line in a wellbore is provided. The method includes providing a tubular in the wellbore, the tubular having a first conduit operatively attached thereto, whereby the first conduit extends substantially the entire length of the tubular. The method further includes aligning the first conduit with a second conduit operatively attached to a downhole component and forming a hydraulic connection between the first conduit and the second conduit thereby completing a passageway therethrough.
