    摘要: A drill rod clamping system for securing a drill rod in a selected position. The drill rod clamping system has a hollow spindle with an upper portion that defines axial slots and a base portion that defines at least one radial opening. A plurality of jaws are moveable radially inwardly to a drill rod gripping position and radially outwardly to a drill rod releasing position. Each jaw is received within a respective axial slot of the hollow spindle. An actuator moves the plurality of jaws between the drill rod gripping position and the drill rod releasing position. A compressed gas spring assembly exerts force on the actuator to close the jaws. A hydraulic operator exerts force on the actuator to overcome the force of the compressed gas spring assembly to open the jaws. The radial openings of the base portion of the spindle permit flushing of material flowing within the spindle.

    摘要: A logging tool assembly comprises an elongate sensor assembly, a plurality of sensor transportation apparatuses for transporting the elongate sensor assembly through a wellbore, and an orientation structure. The sensor transportation apparatuses are spaced apart along the elongate sensor assembly. Each sensor transportation apparatus comprises an engagement structure to connect the sensor transportation apparatus to the elongate sensor assembly and prevent relative rotation between the sensor transportation apparatus and the elongate sensor assembly, and one or more pairs of wheels arranged to rotate on an axis of rotation substantially perpendicular to a longitudinal axis of the elongate sensor assembly. The axes of rotation of the pairs of wheels of said transportation apparatuses are parallel. The orientation structure is connected to the elongate sensor assembly to prevent relative rotation between the orientation structure and the elongate sensor assembly. The orientation structure comprises at least one radially extending orientation projection. In a transverse outline of the logging tool assembly a said orientation projection extends between the pair of wheels so that the shortest distance between a centre of gravity of the elongate sensor assembly and the wellbore wall is when the pair of wheels of the transportation apparatus is in contact with the wellbore wall.

    摘要: A pipe connector. The connector includes a body with opposed connection portions for connecting two pipes. A protective portion extends along at least a portion of an inside surface intermediate the connection portions. The protective portion includes a protective material that is less abrasive to a rod string than the body. An inside diameter of the connector along at least a portion of the protective portion is equal to or narrower than an inside diameter at other portions of the connector for preferentially contacting the rod string with the protective material over other portions of the body. The connector may include an extended gripping portion for gripping with power tongs, and may further include a reinforced portion for increasing resistance of the pipe connector to deformation when threadedly connected with a tubing joint with the connector.
