    摘要: A Media Independent Handover (MIH) server communicates with nodes in a cellular network to perform handover of a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) in the event of an incoming circuit-switched (CS) call. A Gateway Mobile Switching Center (GMSC) and/or Home Location Register (HLR) receive an indication of an incoming call, and may communicate with the MIH server. A determination is made regarding whether the WTRU is active in the cellular network. When required, the MIH server initiates an MIH handover of the WTRU to the cellular network. The WTRU hands over to the cellular network and receives the call. Additionally, an MIH server and a HLR communicate location information associated with a WTRU. The location information may be used by the MIH server and HLR to perform their respective MIH and HLR functionality, and/or to handover the WTRU to a cellular network in the event of an incoming CS call.

    摘要: A method and apparatus for triggering procedures to handover an ongoing communication session between a mobile station (MS) and a correspondent node (CoN) from via a first network of a first type to via a second network of a different type. Communication session continuity is maintained by transferring communication session context information when a handover is imminent from a network component in a first network path to a network component in a second network path, and by forwarding downlink and uplink signals via the network components in both the first and second network paths until the ongoing communication session can be established via the second network path. The context information includes the session communication parameters, such that the second network path can allocate resources and establish routing between the MS and the CoN.

    摘要: A wireless communication system including at least one IEEE 802 multi-stack wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) and a plurality of technologically diversified access networks, such as IEEE 802.X networks and Third Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) networks, that are concurrently deployed. Both the multi-stack WTRU and the technologically-diversified networks include a media independent handover (MIH) function. The WTRU is configured to read MIH information transmitted from one of the IEEE 802.X networks, trigger 3GPP authentication and authorization procedures based on the MIH information, obtain a local Internet protocol (IP) address, establish a tunnel to a packet data gateway (PDG) in a 3GPP core network, construct a care of address (CoA) and register the CoA with a home agent of the WTRU, whereby data destined for the WTRU is routed via the home agent through a new tunnel established between the home agent and a foreign agent based on the CoA.

    摘要: A method and apparatus are provided for updating a sequence hopping (SH) pattern of an uplink channel during handover from a current cell having a current SH pattern. At least one downlink channel of each neighbor cell of the current cell is monitored. Information indicative of the monitored downlink channels of the neighbor cells is transmitted to the current cell. Prior to receiving a handover command from the current cell a target cell from among the neighbor cells is anticipated and a common downlink channel of the anticipated target cell is monitored to determine information representative of a target SH pattern of the target cell.

    摘要: Various procedures for operating a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) in Long Term Evolution (LTE) Idle mode are described. The procedures include: methods for applying cell reselection priorities in the WTRU, methods for converting a mobility state of the WTRU between operating modes, a method for assigning a mobility state to the WTRU, and a method for determining whether the WTRU may access a closed subscriber group (CSG) cell. Also described are methods and an apparatus on the operations of the LTE mobility state transition mechanism between LTE WTRU Idle mode and Connected mode, a definition of the Pcompensation parameter for LTE, inter-frequency and inter-radio access technology cell reselection priority validity definitions, and coverage extension principles for CSG cells.
