    Abstract: Disclosed is a method of environmental control, comprising: passing a first air stream and a second air stream through a valve; wherein the valve directs the first air stream through a first adsorption bed and directs the second air stream through a second adsorption bed; wherein the first adsorption bed produces a dehumidified air stream, and wherein the second adsorption bed is purged of moisture by the second air stream, thus producing a purge stream; and using the valve to redirect the first air stream and the second air stream when the first adsorption bed reaches a moisture saturation point or a timed interval, wherein the first air stream passes through the second adsorption bed and the second air stream passes through the first adsorption bed.

    Abstract: An airplane is provided. The airplane includes a motor-driven compressor assembly. The motor-driven compressor assembly includes a shaft, a motor, a compressor, and a turbine coupled to the compressor via the shaft. The motor provides a first power to the compressor via the shaft. The turbine receives and expands a second medium to provide a second power to the compressor via the shaft. The compressor receives and compresses a first medium in accordance with the first power provided by the turbine and the second power provided by the motor.

    Abstract: Disclosed is a cooling circuit for cooling a heat load in an aircraft system, having: a compressor; a turbine connected to the compressor by a shaft, the turbine configured to drive the compressor via the shaft when RAM air pressure into a turbine inlet is above a first threshold; and a motor connected to the shaft configured to drive the compressor when RAM air pressure at the turbine inlet is below the first threshold to cause the compressor to draw air into the turbine inlet, through the turbine, a heat exchanger in fluid communication with the heat load, the compressor, and out of a compressor outlet.
