    摘要: A gas breaker wherein an electromagnetic force is generated between a primary coil fixed to an operating rod manipulating a movable contact element and an end ring or a short ring fixed to a floating puffer piston slidably supported against said operating rod, said floating puffer piston being driven to compress arc-extinguishing gas in said puffer cylinder by an electromagnetic repulsive force and an arc is extinguished by compressed arc extinguishing gas which is blasted to the contact element. A movement of the puffer piston for compressing arcextinguishing gas is shut off from that of the operating rod, so that the electromagnetic repulsive force is utilized for compression of the arc-extinguishing gas in the puffer cylinder, whereby the electromagnetic force is not effected to the operating rod, thus resulting in making the control system for the operating rod more compact.

    摘要: A circuit breaker having an actuating system comprising a signal responsive valve member of large diameter and a making force imparting valve member of small diameter connected to each other by an actuating rod so that a first differential force relationship can be established therebetween. A movable valve seat of diameter smaller than that of the making force imparting valve member is movable toward and away from the signal responsive valve member so that a second differential force relationship can be established between the two valve members when the movable valve seat engages the signal responsive valve member to limit the effective area of the latter. The movable valve seat is moved toward and away from the signal responsive valve member and fluid under pressure applied to the signal responsive valve member is suitably controlled so as to selectively bias the actuating rod in one of the making and breaking directions. A control valve member is disposed in proximity to the movable valve seat so that it moves in response to the movement of the actuating rod in the breaking direction for controlling the application of the fluid pressure to the signal responsive valve member. This control valve member acts to reduce the moving distance of the movable valve seat following the movement of the signal responsive valve member so that the movable valve seat can take a floating position ready to move in the making direction.

    摘要: A puffer type circuit breaker is provided in which an arc extinguishing gas is compressed and released into an arc between contacts upon the initiation of an interrupting operation. The means for compressing the arc extinguishing gas is actuated by an electromagnetic driving means comprising at least two electromagnetic driving units provided by a primary coil and a short ring electromagnetically coupled to said primary coil, and the electromagnetic driving means exhibits a stepped electromagnetic driving force characteristic in response to the displacement in the driving direction when a predetermined current flows in the primary coil. Thus, current arcs for a range of small and medium currents may be extinguished by means of gases compressed by the driving forces generated in the neighborhood of the upper step portion of the stepped electromagnetic driving force characteristic and directed to the current arcs, while current arcs for a range of large currents may be extinguished by means of gases compressed by the driving forces generated in the neighborhood of the lower step portion of the stepped electromagnetic driving force characteristic and directed to the current arcs.
