Abstract: Provided are: a negative electrode mixture composite which is for a fluoride ion secondary battery having high initial charge/discharge efficiency, and by which the fluoride ion secondary battery that starts charging can be achieved; a negative electrode and a secondary battery for a fluoride ion secondary battery using said composite; and a method for producing said composite. This composite is formed with other components of a negative electrode mixture, using, as negative electrode active materials, nanoparticle-sized aluminum and modified aluminum fluoride having vacancies due to the desorption of fluoride ions, and thus forming a coating due to aluminum fluoride formed by a refluorination reaction after defluorination is suppressed, and the aggregation of particles of negative electrode active materials is suppressed.

Abstract: Provided is a fluoride ion secondary battery having a capacity larger than that of a conventional one. A negative electrode for use in such a fluoride ion secondary battery includes a complex of Li3AlF6 and AlF3 as a negative electrode active material. The complex of Li3AlF6 and AlF3 preferably has a molar ratio of AlF3 to Li3AlF6 of 0.1 to 2. The content of the complex of Li3AlF6 and AlF3 in the negative electrode is preferably 25% by mass or less. The complex of Li3AlF6 and AlF3 is preferably in an amorphous state.

According to the present invention, a composite body is formed using, as a negative electrode active material, nanometer-sized aluminum particles together with the other constituents of a negative electrode mixture, so that coating by aluminum fluoride that is formed by a re-fluoridation reaction after defluoridation is suppressed, while suppressing aggregation of negative electrode active material particles.
