Abstract: Embodiments of this application provide an information indication method and a communication apparatus. The method is applied to a wireless local area network system that supports various IEEE 802.11 protocols such as the 802.11bf series protocols. The method includes: generating a PPDU, where the PPDU includes sensing indication information, the sensing indication information indicates that the PPDU is a PPDU used for sensing measurement, and the PPDU is a directional multi-gigabit DMG single carrier mode PPDU, an enhanced directional multi-gigabit EDMG single carrier mode PPDU, or an EDMG orthogonal frequency division multiplexing mode PPDU; and sending the PPDU. In this manner, a sensing PPDU and a non-sensing PPDU in a communication system can be distinguished, so that a receive end optimizes sensing performance.

The method includes: An AP sends a first request message to a first station and a second station, to request to measure channel quality in one or more sensing beam directions in a first SP; the AP sends a second request message to a third station and a fourth station, to request to measure channel quality in a communications beam direction in a second SP; the first station, the second station, the third station, and the fourth station separately perform measurement and report respective first measurement results; and the AP receives the first measurement results of the stations, and determines, based on the first measurement results, whether to perform spatial multiplexing on the first SP and the second SP.

Abstract: Embodiments of this application relate to the communications field, and in particular, to an information indication method and apparatus in the communications field. The embodiments of this application include: generating a PPDU including radar indication information, where the radar indication information is used to indicate that the PPDU is a PPDU used for radar testing, and transmitting the PPDU. According to the method provided in the embodiments of this application, the transmit end explicitly indicates that the PPDU is a PPDU used for radar testing rather than a PPDU used for communication between communications devices. When a receive end receives the PPDU, the receive end no longer monitors a channel, thereby reducing power consumption of the receive end.
