    摘要: An apparatus, method, and system for multi-well ranging and planning of a second injector well in the presence of a first injector well in close proximity to a producer well. The method includes generating a three-well forward simulation model using survey data for a producer well, survey data for a first injector well, survey data for a first section of a second injector well, a producer well casing property profile, and a formation resistivity parameter. The method provides for determining the offset between the true magnetic sensor position in the BHA and a planned depth position. The method determines ranging distance and direction of the drilling well to target well using the offset between the true magnetic sensor position and the first planned depth position. The method helps to adjust directional drilling parameter to achieve constant ranging distance between drilling well and target well.

    摘要: Metamaterials are used in well logging measurement tools to position-shift and size-scale antennas such that they can be placed very close to the outer perimeter of the tool, which can improve azimuthal sensitivity and vertical resolution. Antennas of an azimuthal pipe inspection or induction-based borehole imaging tool can be placed with minimal stand-off against a borehole wall. Use of such metamaterials can improve the resolution of logs or images that are obtained by such tools. The metamaterials also can be used to effectively centralize radial coils. Disclosed implementations of metamaterials can be used with gradient ranging tools to effectively increase the spacing between ranging antennas. Increased spacing can maximize the signal levels with respect to noise, without producing distortions that are observed with the inclusion of magnetic materials.

    摘要: A borehole resistivity distribution system includes a cable having an array of transmitters along a shared conductive loop. Each of the transmitters is coupled to a corresponding frequency-dependent material or device. An application of a first drive signal to the cable excites the transmitters, to obtain a first measurement, the first drive signal having a first frequency and a first amplitude. An application of a second drive signal to the cable excites the transmitters, to obtain a second measurement, the second drive signal having a second frequency and a second amplitude. At least the first frequency is different from the second frequency, or the first amplitude is different from the second amplitude. The system further includes a processor coupled to receive the first and second measurements, to derive, based at least in part on the measurements, a resistivity distribution around a borehole.

    摘要: Permanent electromagnetic (EM) monitoring of the regions around and between wells may employ a casing string positioned within a borehole through the subsurface formations of interest. At least two passivated electrodes are mounted on the casing string to sense electric fields in the formation. Though only capacitively coupled to the formation, the passivated electrodes nevertheless provide a potential difference to an electro-optical transducer, which in turn modifies a property of the light passing along an optical fiber attached to the casing string. An interface unit senses the modified property to derive a measure of the electric field between each pair of passivated electrodes. The passivated electrodes have a contact surface that is conductive but for one or more layers of non-reactive (and thus electrically insulating) materials. Illustrative materials include metal oxides, polymers and ceramics, but the layers are preferably kept very thin to maximize the coupling capacitance with the formation.

    摘要: A system and method of correcting induction logging data for relative dip, wherein an induction logging tool is utilized to collect initial induction logging data at a plurality of frequencies. The initial induction logging data is then corrected for skin effect and borehole effect, after which, inversion is performed on the processed induction logging data to determine a dip effect correction. The dip effect correction is then applied to the initial induction logging data in order to yield induction logging data that is dip corrected to reflect a zero relative dip. Once dip corrected, the induction logging data can be used with resistivity methodologies generally designed for instances where no dip is present in the formation under analysis. In certain embodiments, the inversion step utilizes an additive correction for the dip effect correction.

    摘要: A sensor and sensing method for a downhole logging tool provide an antenna having a toroidal or spiral winding that is toroidally or helically wound around a toroid core. The toroidally-wound toroidal winding antenna forms a natural high-pass filter that is capable of suppressing low-frequency and midrange frequency noise and other interference. This allows the logging tool to sense or detect high-frequency signals, or the high-frequency component of a signal, more clearly and accurately. Multiple toroidally-wound toroidal winding antennas may be used in multiple different configurations, including a multi-axial configuration, bucking configuration, radial configuration, and the like. The sensor and sensing method are particularly useful in applications, such as dielectric logging, short hop communications, waterflood monitoring, and the like.
