摘要: Described herein are systems and techniques for improving operation of equipment that identify compounds included in a slurry that exits a wellbore during a drilling operation. Mass flow rates, volumetric data, wellbore equipment data, and other information may be used to identify a total volumetric density of the slurry. Calculations and/or other evaluations may be performed to identify a volumetric density of materials other than a gas included in the slurry. The volumetric density of the other materials may be subtracted from the total volumetric density to identify a volumetric density of the gas included in the slurry. Estimates of percentages of hydrocarbons and molar mass equations may be used to estimate masses of combined sets of hydrocarbons included in the gas. When a volumetric density of a combined set of hydrocarbons matches the gas volumetric density, the gas may be classified as including the set of hydrocarbons.

摘要: Described herein are systems and techniques for improving operation of a gas chromatograph or a computer that identifies compounds that correspond to peaks in a graph of gas chromatograph data (chromatogram). Each of the peaks included in the chromatogram may be associated with retention times that are measured amounts of time that correspond to how long it took for respective compounds included in a sample to move through the gas chromatograph. Measured retention times may be compared to standard retention times to identify retention time shifts. These retention times shifts may correspond to a function that may be used to predict retention times of other compounds that could be included in the sample. When a measured retention time that is associated with an unclassified peak in the chromatogram matches a predicted retention time of a specific compound to a threshold level, the unclassified peak may be identified the specific compound.

摘要: A gas extraction system comprising a heater configured to receive a wellbore servicing fluid sample and discharge a heated wellbore servicing fluid sample, wherein the heater comprises an internal heat exchange surface coated with a superhydrophobic coating composition; a gas extractor configured to receive at least a portion of the heated wellbore servicing fluid sample and extract an extracted gas from the heated wellbore servicing fluid sample; and one or more detectors configured to receive at least a portion of the extracted gas and provide an analysis of the extracted gas.

摘要: Certain aspects and features relate to a system that monitors for kick and lost circulation in the riser string of an offshore drilling rig. The system compensates for annulus outflow fluctuation induced by wave (heave) motion in order to reduce false alarms, resulting in fewer drilling operation disruptions. The system includes a sensor or sensors disposable with respect to a drilling rig subject to rig motion. A processor receives a real-time position signal indicative of the rig motion from the sensor and applies a state observer to the position signal to determine annular flow parameters. The system models an annular flow for the wellbore to produce a modeled flow signal that reflects a position of the drilling rig relative to influx flow. The system uses the modeled flow to determine kick-loss-alarm parameters that take into account the heave motion.

摘要: Aspects and features include a system and method for drilling fluid measurement using active gas dilution. Active and automatic correction of the flow of a mixture of a sample gas and a carrier gas supplied to detectors is used while making measurements. A computing device measures a physical state of the mixture, determines a gas flow rate for the mixture, and determines a corrected flow rate for the carrier gas based on the physical state of the mixture and the mixture gas flow rate. The computing device then adjusts the flow rate of the carrier gas into the drilling fluid to maintain the corrected flow rate. This control improves accuracy by reducing the introduction of contaminants from the measurement environment and allowing compositional measurement to be made well above the lower detection limits of the detectors being used for the measurements.
