The main line can connect a hydraulic fluid source to a plurality of system actuators, where the variable displacement pump is disposed in the main line between the hydraulic fluid source and the plurality of system actuators to pressurize the hydraulic fluid.

Abstract: A fuel metering system includes a pump with an inlet and an outlet, a first flow path including a first valve fluidically connected to the outlet of the pump, and a second flow path including a second valve fluidically connected to the outlet of the pump, a third valve, and a fourth valve. An electrohydraulic servo valve in a first position hydraulically connects the inlet of the pump to the first, third, and fourth valves to close the first valve, open the third valve, open a first window of the fourth valve, and close a second window of the fourth valve. The electrohydraulic servo valve in a second position hydraulically connects the outlet of the pump to the first, third, and fourth valves to open the first valve, close the third valve, close the first window of the fourth valve, and open the second window of the fourth valve.

Abstract: A fuel supply system for a gas turbine engine has a fuel tank, a main fuel pump for receiving fuel from the fuel tank, and an electric pump also for receiving fuel from the fuel tank. The main fuel pump and the electric pump both deliver fuel to a sharing valve. The sharing valve selectively delivers fuel downstream into a gas generator portion of the gas turbine engine and to an augmentor. A control is programmed to control the sharing valve, such that fuel flows from the main fuel pump to the augmentor, and to the gas generator at higher demand operation, and does not flow from the main fuel pump at lower demand operation. A gas turbine engine and a method are also disclosed.

Abstract: A fuel system can include a selection and shutoff valve (SSOV) configured to allow a primary flow having a primary flow pressure to pass therethrough in a first state such that the primary flow can travel to an output line. The SSOV can also be configured to shut off the primary flow in a second state to prevent the primary flow from travelling to the output line. In the second state, the SSOV can be configured to allow a secondary flow from a secondary flow source to pass therethrough such that the secondary flow can travel to the output line.

Abstract: A fluid flow system includes a main valve having a spool, a first chamber, and a second chamber. A pressure difference between the first chamber and the second chamber is configured to move the spool to control fluid flow. An electromechanical meter interface device (EMID) is in fluid communication with at least one of the first and second chambers of the main valve. The EMID is configured to meter fluid from a first source and a second source to the at least one of the first chamber and the second chamber. The first source has a different pressure from the second source. A fixed orifice is arranged between the main valve and the EMID. A fuel system for a gas turbine engine is also disclosed.

Abstract: Actuator systems and methods of operation are disclosed. The systems include a hydraulic actuator having a primary piston having a piston head arranged within a housing defining retract and extend chambers on opposite sides of the piston head. A control element is configured to control a supply of pressure to each of the retract and extend chambers. An actuator valve is coupled to the housing and includes a secondary piston that is biased into the retract chamber in an open flow state and when the primary piston is in a fully retracted state the piston head urges the secondary piston into a closed flow state. The actuator valve defines a flow chamber where, in an open flow state, fluid can be passed through the flow chamber and in a closed flow state the fluid is prevented from passing through the flow chamber.
