    摘要: A method and apparatus is provided for the overlaid operation of two or more wireless communication systems where one of the two systems is a small-scale or indoor system and the other is a large-scale or outdoor system. The indoor system monitors the operation of the outdoor system and detects which part of the available radio resources are temporarily not in use or interference-free in the outdoor system. The indoor system dynamically selects an unused outdoor channel for indoor operation. The indoor radio traffic is divided into TDD time slots with the slots being used for monitoring the existing radio communication on other outdoor channels so that fast changes according to changing traffic and interference conditions are possible. Synchronization, timing and phase control may be added to assist in the maintenance of an error-free communication network.

    摘要: A system and method for controlling information transmission and communication handoff between frequency division multiplexing (FDD) and time division multiplexing (TDD) communication systems using any multiple access scheme is provided. The mobile unit transmits information via a current one of the FDD and TDD communication systems while it moves toward the other, or targeted one of the FDD and TDD communication systems. A pilot search signal is generated by the targeted communication system, where the pilot search signal corresponds to a transmission range of the targeted communication system. A communication handoff is initiated from the current communication system to the targeted communication system when the mobile unit recognizes a predetermined threshold level of the pilot search signal. Concurrent communications are synchronized and temporarily maintained between the mobile unit and both the current and targeted communications systems using an increased data rate for each of the communications links. When the handoff is complete, transmission between the mobile unit and the current communication system is terminated, while communication between the mobile unit and the targeted communication system is maintained when the handoff is complete.

    摘要: Transmission antenna diversity can be set up on a data transmission connection between a transmitting unit, wherein there are several transmission antenna routes, and a receiving unit. A broadcast signal is transmitted through all transmission antenna routes of the transmitting unit, with the aid of these signals a choice is made in the receiving unit of the optimum transmission antenna route and a message of the choice is transmitted to the transmitting unit, which transmits user data through the transmission antenna route connected for use. The broadcast signal of each transmission antenna route can be shaped by an individual signal shaping method which is different from the others and a transmission antenna route is connected for use based on the received antenna choice message, individually for each receiving unit.
