摘要： A winding apparatus is disclosed which includes a rotatable revolver having a pair of spindles mounted thereon, with the spindles being adapted to coaxially mount one or more bobbin tubes. Upon rotation of the revolver, the spindles are moved between a winding position and a doffing position, and a traversing mechanism is provided for traversing an advancing yarn and so as to form a cross wound package on the tubes at the winding position. Means are also provided for automatically transferring the advancing yarn from the rotating full package which has been moved to the doffing position, to a rotating empty bobbin tube on a spindle which has been moved to the winding position, and which comprises a yarn lifting device for removing the advancing yarn from the traversing means and conveying the advancing yarn laterally to a yarn catching plane, and a yarn transferring mechanism which laterally deflects the yarn from the yarn catching plane to a bead plane which is within the normal traverse stroke.

摘要： A yarn traverse apparatus and method are disclosed for winding a running yarn onto a rotating package, and wherein at each end portion of the traverse stroke there is provided a guide rail, and a pair of oppositely rotating arms mounted for rotation about closely adjacent parallel, or coaxial axes. One arm moves the yarn along the guide rail and toward the end of the stroke, and the other arm returns the yarn toward the center of the stroke. The guide rail and/or the arms include means for guiding the yarn adjacent each of the ends of the stroke such that the yarn is free to rebound a short distance toward the center of the stroke, and is then restrained in such movement, and so that proper engagement of the yarn by the extremity of the arm moving into the traverse stroke is assured.

摘要： A yarn traverse apparatus is disclosed for winding a running yarn onto a rotating package, and which includes a first traverse means comprising a guide rail, and a pair of oppositely rotating arms mounted for rotation about closely adjacent parallel, or coaxial axes. A second traverse means is also provided which comprises a grooved roller positioned between the first traverse means and the yarn package being wound. In order to achieve a precise guidance of the yarn onto the package, the first yarn traverse means defines a guide stroke which extends beyond each of the ends of the traverse stroke defined by the grooved roller. In addition, the guide rail and/or the arms include means for guiding the yarn adjacent each of the ends of the guide stroke such that the yarn is free to rapidly rebound a short distance toward the center of the stroke, and is then restrained during movement through a second traverse distance.

摘要： A yarn winding apparatus is disclosed which is characterized by the ability to wind a plurality of running yarns onto a corresponding number of bobbins mounted on a common support spindle, and wherein the bobbins may be closely spaced apart to thereby permit the required length of the support spindle to be minimized. The apparatus comprises a plurality of side by side traversing assemblies extending along the length of the bobbin support spindle, with each traversing assembly comprising a yarn guide bar and a pair of oppositely rotating rotors. The rotors are each composed of two oppositely directed radial arms, which define two closely adjacent planes of rotation. The two rotors of each assembly are mounted for rotation about off-set axes, and such that the arms sweep across the guide bar in opposite directions to define the traverse stroke. Also, the two axes of all of the traversing assemblies are offset in the same direction, with the corresponding axes of all of the adjacent traversing assemblies being equally spaced apart a predetermined distance, and such that the extremities of the arms of adjacent traversing assemblies define circles upon rotation thereof which overlap in both of the planes of rotation.

摘要： Process and apparatus for spinning fibers into a yarn in a yarn forming zone in the gap between air permeable surfaces of two rollers or on a single, air permeable roller surface while drawing a current of air adjacent said zone through said surface or surfaces by suction means, a feed channel with a narrow mouth adjacent the yarn forming zone for feeding an air stream and individual, separated fibers therein to the yarn forming zone from a carding roller rotating in a carding chamber to which a sliver or tow of fibers is fed, a casing about the rollers and the mouth of the channel with means for maintaining a desired subatmospheric to superatmospheric pressure in the casing and especially in the free flight interval of the fibers from the channel mouth to the yarn forming zone, a pressurizable casing about the carding unit and at least one air passage from the casing to the carding chamber, and using sequential, cascade-type, pressure decreases in the carding chamber, the feed channel, the free flight interval of the fibers at the yarn producing zone, and the suction means to attain optimum conditions for producing uniform and high strength yarns.

摘要： A process for the production of a core/mantle yarn, in which a core thread is continuously conducted through a spinning zone in a gap formed between two adjacent and oppositely moving surfaces; staple fibers are fed into the path of the core thread and come into frictional contact with the moving surfaces in said zone to spin the staple fibers about the core thread; the core thread is preferably stretched during the spinning in order to bring about a defined, predetermined elastic stretch of the core thread in the spinning zone; and the core thread has a roughened surface which may be obtained by using a staple fiber yarn or thread obtained by texturizing, weaving, twisting, etc. The invention is especially characterized by an improved adherence of the fibers of the mantle to the core thread by pre-coating the core thread with an adhesive, or preferably by preapplying colloidal silicic acid to the core thread.
