    摘要: A shutter is disclosed for use as a high-speed shutter in a camera or an electronic device. The shutter comprises a planar aperture blade which is mounted for reciprocative movement. The aperture blade includes a coil which is part of an electromagnetic actuator. A permanent magnet is mounted adjacent the blade for interaction with a magnetic field produced by the coil. In order to provide for a low-friction support, the aperture blade is supported on flexible connectors located on opposite sides of the blade. A current of one polarity is supplied to the coil to move the aperture blade in one direction, and the polarity of the current is reversed to move the blade in the opposite direction.

    摘要: A frame for determining the position and orientation of an x-ray source relative to an x-ray cassette during x-radiography. In one embodiment the frame includes an x-ray transparent or translucent plate having a first surface and a second surface; and a partially radio-opaque protrusion positioned on the first surface of the plate. In another embodiment, a method for determining the position and orientation of an x-ray source relative to an x-ray cassette is disclosed. The method includes the steps of providing a frame, including an x-ray transparent plate having a first surface and a second surface; and a protrusion having a radio-opaque portion positioned on the first surface of the plate, and placing the plate on the x-ray cassette such that the second surface is in contact with the x-ray cassette. The method further includes placing the appendage on the plate in close juxtaposition to the protrusion, exposing the appendage and plate to an x-ray beam, and examining the image formed.

    摘要: Focusing apparatus is described for a lens holder for an actuator of a read/write head in a optical information storage system which provides a fine adjustment for focussing an optical beam on the storage medium. A lens holder unit is coupled to a base unit by springs, the springs establishing an equilibrium position relative to a base unit. The base unit includes a plurality of coils through which current can flow. The lens holder unit includes a permanent magnet. When current flows through the plurality of coils, a force is exerted on the permanent magnet and, consequently, on the lens holder unit. The position of the lens holder unit relative to the base unit is determined by the magnitude of the current applied to the coils. The springs are arranged to maintain an orientation of the lens assembly unit in space. For small displacements of the lens assembly unit from an equilibrium position, the lens remains proximate the optic axis. A second embodiment of the focus control element provides for a combination of tracking apparatus and focussing apparatus for positioning a focused radiation beam on a storage medium.

    摘要: In conjunction with the play of the game of Keno, a combination ticket holder and transmitter-receiver is located at each player's table. Each player's transmitter is coded with a number (e.g., 60,000) of two-tone sequential codes which are transmitted to Keno runners preassigned to specific tables and to a game controller in the Keno lounge. Each player's receiver displays 80 LED digits, numbered 1-80, or other indicatable symbols, and preferably is a super hetradine narrow band receiver to minimize interference from adjacent and co-channel users. Signals are converted from analog to digital when the symbol indicators are connected, and remain displayed until reset for the next game. Each runner has a portable unit with a receiver also which has indicators numbered to identify the players and which preferably also is a super hetradine, dual tone, sequentially coded unit. It converts the tones generated by the player's transmitter into the appropriate display enabling the runner to identify the table requesting assistance. The game controller's console has two receivers. One is identical to that of the player to allow the controller to monitor and verify the game scores. The other receiver is identical to that of the runner and displays all table numbers of all runners. The controller utilizes two transmitters. A first transmitter, identical to that of the player with coding numbering the same quantity of runner boards, enables the controller to request a Keno runner to his location in the same fashion as the player. The second transmitter has encoding compatible to the player's receiver for transmissions of the game scores, game number, status of game or any other required information.

    摘要: The invention relates to a frame for positioning a hand for medical imaging. In one embodiment, the frame includes a plate having a first surface and a second surface, and at least one indicium of handedness on one of the first and second surface. In the embodiment, at least one indicium of the frame is positioned asymmetrically on one of the first and second surfaces. In another embodiment, while, at least one of the first and second surfaces is flat, the other surface is shaped to raise the fingers of the hand, and has a raised platform to support the wrist of said hand. The indicium is visible under medical imaging illumination. Medical imaging is selected from a group consisting of: X-Ray, MRI (magnetic resonance imaging), computed tomography (CT), and PET (position emission tomography).
