摘要: A system for reducing carbon dioxide emissions from gasses generated in burning fossil fuel, includes a vessel, separator and reheater. The upper portion of the vessel receives downward flowing, first type solid particles capable of absorbing heat from upward flowing gasses and second type solid particles capable of capturing carbon dioxide from the gasses. The separator separates the second type solid particles with the captured carbon dioxide from the gasses discharged from the first vessel discharge, and directs the separated second type solid particles with the captured carbon dioxide to a separator discharge. The reheater directs the first type solid particles and the second type solid particles with the captured carbon dioxide in a downwardly flow to a first reheater discharge, such that heat from the first type solid particles causes the captured carbon dioxide to be released from the second type solid particles.

摘要: A recuperative and conductive heat transfer system (10, 10′) that is operative to effect therewith the heating within the second portion (20, 20′) of the heat transfer system (10, 10′) of a “working fluid” flowing through the heat s transfer surfaces (32, 32′) as a consequence of the transfer thereto by conduction of heat from a multiplicity of regenerative solids (24, 24′). The multiplicity of regenerative solids (24, 24′) derive their heat from a recuperation thereby within the first portion (12, 12′) of the heat transfer system (10, 10′) from either an internally generated or an externally generated source of heat (22, 22′).

摘要: A method of separating unburned Carbon, as particulate matter, from the flyash produced as a result of the combustion process occurring in a pulverized-coal fired steam generating power plant is disclosed. More particularly the invention separates the flyash into a coarse product group and a fine product group by utilizing the differences in specific gravity between the Carbon particles and remaining flyash as well as utilization of the dynamic classification characteristics of a rotary classifier to effect the separation whereby at least one of the two product groups comprises a relatively low weight percentage of unburned Carbon while yet comprising a relatively high percentage of the total mass of product recovered after separation.

摘要: A method for managing an amount of energy utilized by a carbon dioxide capture system that includes providing a fuel and a feed stream including oxygen to a combustion system. The feed stream includes a portion of a flue gas stream generated upon combustion of the fuel in the combustion system. The flue gas stream is subjected to a carbon dioxide capture system to remove carbon dioxide therefrom and an amount of at least one of an oxygen stream or the portion of the flue gas stream introduced to the feed stream is adjusted such that the feed stream maintains an oxygen concentration in a range of between 10% to 90% by volume and the carbon dioxide capture system operates at an energy load between about 1.4 GJ/ton of carbon dioxide and about 3.0 GJ/ton of carbon dioxide.

摘要: A pressurized oxy-combustion circulating fluidized bed power plant having a circulating fluidized bed boiler is provided. A combustion chamber of the boiler is in fluid communication with a separator and configured so that solids produced during combustion enter the separator. The power plant further includes an air separation unit that is in fluid communication with the combustion chamber. The air separation unit is configured to supply substantially pure oxygen to the combustion chamber at a pressure greater than 1 bar. An external heat exchanger is in fluid communication with the separator and in fluid communication with the combustion chamber. The external heat exchanger is configured so that a portion of the solids received in the separator pass through the external heat exchanger and transfer heat to a working fluid, after which the solids are returned to the combustion chamber to moderate or control the temperature in the combustion chamber.
