摘要： A smart card connector has a card-receiving cavity with a recess (194, FIG. 73) at the rear that receives the rear edge (152) of the card. A cover or flap is then pivoted down on the support element and slid forward to slide hooks (288, FIG. 27) at the front of the cover under shoulders (292) on the support element. The rear edge of the card extends along the length (A′, FIG. 45) of the card, so the distance from the open front of the connector to the recess (194) and card rear edge is equal to about the smaller width of the card.

摘要： A smart card connector includes an insulative support (52) with contacts thereon and a sheet metal cover (54) with an upper portion (60) that lies over a support face (62) to form a front portion of a card-receiving cavity (58) between them, and with the cover having a lower portion (191) lying under opposite sides of the cavity. The opposite sides of the cavity extend rearward of the support. A card ejecting mechanism (141) includes a pusher (144) that can be manually pushed forward to pivot a lever (146) that pushes the card rearwardly so the card can be grasped and manually pulled out. The pusher is formed of sheet metal with lower and upper flanges (190, 188) that lie against upper and lower portions of the cover, the pusher being confined to solely slideable movement and the lever being pivoting mounted about a pivot axis (A1) on the support. The pivot axis of the lever lies forward of a front edge (78) that limits full insertion of a card, and preferably lies in the area where a polarizing front corner of the card is cut at a 45° angle.

摘要： An electrical connector 12 is provided for receiving and contacting pads on a smart card C, the connector including a molded dielectric support 14 that forms a card-holding recess 22, and a cover 52 that holds down the card against contacting ends 40 of contacts mounted on the support. When the card is fully inserted into the recess, with a rear edge 32 of the card abutting a recess rear wall 30, the front edge 50 of the fully inserted card projects forward of the recess front end 24, to provide a forwardly-projecting card portion that can be readily gripped to pull out the card. The cover 52 has depending sides 61 with lower ends 63 that project towards each other, so the cover can be slid in place around the support. The forward end 56 of the cover can lie rearward of the recess rear end.

摘要： A connector is provided for connecting contacts on the surface of a smart card to a read/write device, which includes an insulative housing (11) that holds a plurality of electrical contacts (32) that have card-engaging blades (34) for engaging pads on a smart card (C). Each contact has a wire-engaging end with an insulation displacement fork (54) for penetrating insulation of an electrical flat cable (66) to connect to a cable wire (70) that connects to a read/write device (D). In one connector, a support part (14) of the housing clamps a fixing part (42) of each contact against a cover (20), while a deflectable linking branch (50) of the contact extends at an upward incline to a bend (82) that extends to the fork (54). A tool T moved down through an opening (80) in the cover can deflect the linking branch to a deflected position, with the fork then projecting down through a cable. A shoulder (84) on the housing then resists upward fork movement. The cable can be supported by a cable-receiving wall (74) fixed to the support part (14).

摘要： A smart card connector of simple design and small size is provided, which retains a fully inserted smart card until a person deflects a tab (172) that releases the smart card, with the connector including a spring (130A) which then partially ejects the smart card so it can be grasped and removed. The apparatus includes a housing (302A) with a dielectric plastic plate-shaped support (72A) that holds contacts (94) with pad-engaging ends (92) projecting above an upwardly-facing face (106) of the plate to engage contact pads of the smart card. The housing forms a forwardly-opening cavity (88) for receiving the smart card when it is rearwardly inserted therein, the housing having a stop (109) that limits rearward movement of the card to a fully inserted position. A card retainer (304A) has a largely rearwardly-facing shoulder (166A) at the front of the cavity to resist withdrawal of the card until the tab is manually deflected. The spring has a spring end (138) lying at the rear of the cavity and biased toward a position forward of the stop, to directly engage the card rear edge to urge the card forwardly out of the cavity. Thus, manual deflection of the tab allows the spring to automatically push the card partially out of the cavity.

Each strip-shaped contact has a contacting front end portion (44) that projects above the top face of the support, a central portion (42) that extends longitudinally rearward from the front portion and which is securely mounted on the support, and a rear end (46) for connecting to a circuit board. The central portion has a rear part with a strip-shaped middle section (124) extending in a longitudinal direction, and first and second feet (52, 58) lying on laterally opposite sides of the middle section. The support has a longitudinally extending groove (28) that receives the contact central portion, and has foot-holding slots (32, 34) on laterally opposite sides of the groove. Each slot has top and bottom slot walls (36, 40) that engage a corresponding one of the feet, to fix the location of the rear part of the central portion, and to prevent pivoting of the rear part about a longitudinal axis.

摘要： A connector with a slot for receiving a smart card with contact pads, includes contacts that are held away from the card slot until the card becomes fully inserted, using a mechanism with a minimum number of easily formed parts. The mechanism includes a rocker (142) with a control part (144) that is pivotally mounted about a rocker axis (Y—Y) and that has a rear end forming a tab (186) that projects into the rear end of the card slot, to be deflected downwardly by the card reaching its fully inserted position. The control part also has a front end (174) that is coupled to the contacts to depress them until the card is fully inserted, whereupon the contacts are released to move up. The rocker, which is formed from a single piece of sheet metal, includes a pair of laterally-spaced fastening plates (150) that are fixed to the housing, and a pair of deflectable portions (148, 154) that can be resiliently deformed to permit the control part to pivot. The deflectable portions include torsion bars (148) that can be twisted about the rocker axis and that bias the control part towards the position where the rear end extends into the card slot. The front end of the control part is coupled to the contacts through a plastic molded lever (112) that is pivotally mounted about a second lateral axis (X—X) on the housing.
